Theo's POV
Theo unwillingly trudged out of her room and into her kitchen to make some toast. It was 8:03 AM, and though Theo really enjoyed the morning time, she really hated having to wake up in it. Pepsi followed her to the kitchen and sniffed at the cupboards until being told to get back, which she then decided to play with her orange squeaky bone.
Theo's phone dinged in her pocket, and she couldn't believe she hadn't checked it yet. That was usually the first thing she did when she woke up. Before making any food, she grabbed her phone and scrolled through. Twitter, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Pinterest, Tinder--she clicked the Tinder notification from Shayne immediately and unlocked her phone.
Shayne: Not to sound creepy or anything, but do you think it would be too crazy to meet up in person soon? I know we haven't talked a lot or anything, but I think a physical interaction would be much more helpful in getting to know who you are as a person :). You seem really cool!
Theo squealed and jumped around her kitchen, causing Pepsi to get super excited and run around her. She dramatically fanned herself and laughed like an idiot.
Me: YES
GOD, YOU IDIOT, she thought to herself. Wow, you're sooo smooth, aren't you Theo?
Me: Sorry, I got a little excited. I think it would be great to meet up soon! When were you thinking?
Me: Also, sorry for the late response; I fell asleep before you texted me :).
After a couple minutes, Shayne responded and the two made out their plans (also, go him for being an early bird!)
Theo set her phone down just as her stomach grumbled, and she finally realized how hungry she was.
Specifically for toast.
She glanced at her bread, then looked around for her toaster, but then remembered that she hadn't unpacked it yet. No toast for two weeks? That had to be a record. She opened the box labeled Kitchen Junk that was leaned up against the wall, and dug for her toaster. Shoving some spatulas and plastic plates out of the way, she finally made it to her new, shiny, steel toaster sitting at the bottom of the box and--
Wait. Did the mouse who murdered her poor, expensive, innocent toaster chew at it in her new apartment, or during the moving process?? Either way, Theo was fuckin' pissed. Mommy needs her food.
But maybe this was a sign--no, not to eat less, but to finally meet her neighbors! Or, at least one of them. The neighbors to her right were kind of whack--constantly yelling and whatnot. She didn't want to talk to them.
Theo straightened her back, grabbed some bread, and let out a big sigh. Maybe she didn't have the courage to ask a stranger to use their toaster, but she did have the stomach, so she really hoped that whoever the lucky person was, was nice.
Thus, Theo was standing in front of her neighbors door, holding two pieces of bread and some cookies she made a few nights prior, hoping to win some toaster privileges.
She prepared herself to knock and sighed. "Okay, here I go," She said. Theo stepped in front of the door and knocked three times. After a second passed, she assumed her neighbor was still sleeping--it was around 8:15 in the morning, if they didn't have work then why would they be awake?
She thought she could be asking herself the same thing.
Before Theo could turn to go back to her apartment, the door opened widely and she cursed to herself.
