It's been a few days since Violet and her mother found out that Bryan would be going away for six years.
In that time, new information surfaced. For violet anyway. She'd found out that Adeline and her father had been messing around for four months, from a reliable source.
She felt less bad for the both of them now knowing what she didn't before. She had assumed this was a one time thing, maybe a mistake on both of their behalf's. Again, this was her always trying to see the best in people.
She now knew from the moment that Adeline started to spend the night at her house five times more than usual, she was likely only doing so to do something inappropriate with her father.
Bryan helped out. He wasn't in the slightest bit innocent. He would always work the morning shift instead of the evening. A random change violet nor her mother questioned.
She was angry with her father, but did not want him in prison for six years. Partially because his crime was a lie, and partially because it was consensual. She thought of how he would not be free until she turned twenty three. She would be a completely different person, and maybe not want anything to do with him at all. It made her upset thinking about it.
Above all though, she felt as if Adeline shouldn't roam the streets free, after she'd ruined lives.
She tried her hardest not to think about it, and was doing a pretty good job so far.

The timer on violets phone goes off as she hurries to grab a pair of oven mit's. Retrieving the chocolate chip cookies from the oven and placing them on top of the stove.
Baking has always been violets go to thing to do when she needs to take her mind off of something. She woke up determined to have a decent day this morning. She was intent on not letting the actions of other people's decisions affect her life. She was going to try her best to have a enjoyable day, despite what'd just happened a few days prior.
It is currently noon time, and she's decided to show some neighborly hospitality, as shes calling it...since she hasn't formally introduced herself or welcomed her new neighbors beyond the football incident. But also, has never had to.
After the cookies cool off, which takes about fifteen minutes. She places them inside her favorite light blue Tupperware bowl.
it's missing something... she thinks to herself, slightly frowning.
oh ! i know
Violet searches the junk drawer inside her kitchen rapidly, stopping once she comes across white sticky notes.
she peels one off, and writes a little message-
welcome to the neighborhood, timothee and his uncle :) It reads
She places it firmly on top of bowl with the closed lid, smiling to herself, feeling accomplished.
This isn't her, she should be too nervous to go introduce herself to her new neighbors. I mean they are practically still strangers/
But she wants to, she wants to be friendly and do something she usually wouldn't. Maybe it'll take her mind off things. Maybe she'll feel different afterwards if she can make someone else smile today. It can't hurt right? What's the worst that could happen? They did seem pretty nice the other day.

Violet bounces across the street, a beam of imaginary energy surrounding her. The cookies in one hand and her phone in the other.
The wind blows against her pink tennis skirt, the fragrance from her body resonating in the air around her.
