Note: Sorry for not updating for a while, I've sorta fallen out of the pokemon fandom, but fear not for I will not abandon this story, I will just update it at a slower rate.
Once again, I do not own anyone in this story
Pokemon belongs to Nintendo
Detective Pikachu belongs to Legendary Pictures
Now here, read the story :)
The walk back to town was uneventful. Jack and Tim bickered among themselves about pokemon. You were pretty sure Jack was already brainstorming about what pokemon to try and partner Tim with. Again. Jack eventually gave up trying to convince Tim about getting a pokemon.
As the three of you turned a corner, walking into the town, Jack suddenly piped up about the cubone,
"That was one angry Cubone, it reminded me a lot of my mum" he remarked. You were pretty sure you could see Tim rolling his eyes as you chuckled and Jack's words. Jack looked around slightly guiltily before turning slightly to Tim, "So, uhh, I don't know if this is gonna sound kinda corny or whatever..." Jack trailed off, Tim sighed before saying, "just say it Jack, I'm too tired to be angry," Jack turned too you slightly as if asking for conformation, you nodded, remebering the talk you two had this morning about Tim. Jack sighed, before turning back too Tim "I'm worried about you," he said bluntly, you fake coughed into your hand Jack looked at you before saying "right, WE'RE worried,".
Tim shook his head dismissively, "this AGAIN?" He asked, Jack continued before Tim could weasel out of this conversation again, "ok listen, everyone we know has left town, and now (Y/N) and I are leaving too,". Tim furrowed his eyebrows "yeah, but that's ok, you gotta do what's best for you with the time you got," he said, almost as if he were trying to convince himself as well as you and Jack, Tim looked at your and Jack's unimpressed expressions, he made a fake sounding chuckle "which is what I'm doing! You know, I'm crushing it at work! Gonna get that big promotion soon!" Tim said, semi enthusiastically, you scoffed "what's the promotion for an insurance appraiser? Senior insurance appraiser?" You asked sarcastically.
"No actually, that's two steps above where I'm at," Tim said, Jack looked at him with an expression words could not explain, "you're gonna make me throw up," he semi whispered, you just stared blankly at Tim, "that CANNOT be a real thing," you said. Tim looked around uncomfortable before pulling out his phone and looking at it, as if it would let him escape from the current situation he was in.
"Oh, I finally have service," he said, he scrunched his face up in confusion "wait five voicemails?" He looked up to you and Jack, "I never had five voicemails," he said, sounding confused, she chuckled slightly, "maybe it's an insurance emergency?" You half joked, Jack lightly punched your arm, you snickered while rubbing your now slightly sore shoulder. "Who is it?" Jack asked, Tim scrunched up his face further, "uhm, it's the Rhyme City Police Department," Tim listened to one of the voicemails before looking back at you and Jack. "There was an accident".
"I still don't understand why you insisted on coming, (Y/N)," Tim said, you pulled your smushed up face away from the train window. "Come on, Tim, why WOULDN'T I want to go to Rhyme City? The place where I've dreamed too move to ever since I was, like, seven!" You exclaimed, earning some weird looks from the people sitting around the seats near you and Tim. "I don't know, (Y/N), I don't know," Tim said, shaking his head, "exactly," you half whispered, before promptly pressing your face against the window. A few minutes pass before you felt Tim tapping your shoulder. You tore your gaze from the herd of Rapidash, and raised your eyebrow at Tim. He pointed at a pokemon that was staring at him, it's big, dark eyes gazed at him expectantly. "You're the pokemon master (Y/N), what pokemon is that?" Tim asked, you rolled your eyes, "Tim, first of all, I'm not a pokemon master. Secondly, that is a Lickitung," you answered, Tim nodded slowly, before turning his attention back to the Lickitung, who had now opened it's mouth and had it's tongue hanging out.
"Please don't," said Tim, already knowing what was going to happen, you leaned over and said, "all it hears is 'please do it" Tim glared at you slighty, to which you responded by shrugging an turning away. You shivered slightly as the disturbing sound of the excited Lickitung dragging it's tongue across Tim's face. "You have a very generous tongue," Tim said, trying his hardest not to get the saliva that the Lickitung had left in his mouth. You fished around in your bag and pulled out a handkerchief and handed it to Tim, who was attempting to wipe the saliva off with his shirt. He thanked you and continued to wipe the salive off his face and shirt.
You tore your gaze away from Tim's struggle as the screen on the back of the seat infront of you turned. It seemed to be something like an introduction video to Rhyme City. Having known enough about Rhyme City, you sorta just zoned out while staring out the window. After what felt like half an hour, (but was really only a few minutes) Tim shook out of your daze as soon as he had noticed the train slowing down.
You focused on the scenery outside of the train's window. It looked... amazing! Giant skyscrapers reached towards the sky with various flying pokemon weaving through the tall buildings. Turning your attention back to the ground you tried to pick out seperate pokemon from the huge clusters of the brightly coloured creatures and their human friends. You're almost certain you saw multiple growlithes, squirtles and charmanders. You pressed your nose against the window to get a better look at an elusive umbreon scowling at a few panchams playing in a nearby bamboo garden while sticking close to their trainer.
"Hey, are you coming...? Or not?" Tim's question made you switch your attention on him standing about a metre from where you were sitting. You pushed yourself from your seat and fixed the strap for your purse and making sure frogadier was comfortable in his pokeball. You swiftly walked over to Tim before giving him a confident look.
"Let's go then!"
