As the pale morning sun rose shined over the tops of the trees, pokemon of varying species could be heard getting ready for the day. Pidgeots could be heard chirping and flapping their wings as the day started to warm up. Bouffalants could be heard frolicking in the short grass of the enclosures.

A flock of Pidgeots took off from their perch on top of a cozy looking red barn. A line of small, mole-like pokemon were travelling across a small stream that bent around the shrubs before continuing out of sight. The flock of Pidgeots continued to fly over the barn before disappearing around a low hanging tree branch. It was this hour in the morning when the world was waking up and everything was peaceful. Except for the loud sobs and wails of a crying Cubone.

"You hear that?" The voice of a young male could be heard along with his and two others footsteps. The question came from an average height young male. He had dark brown hair that was cut close to his head, he also wore a red cap. He had slightly dark brown skin and brown eyes. He had a rough orange-brown jacket over the top of a blue and orange flannel shirt. He wore a pair of navy blue jeans and had an orange backpack. His name was Jack.

His male friend had a similar haircut with almost the exact same shade of hair. His skin was a few tones lighter than his friend. He wore a plain white shirt and a pair of tan jeans. He had a tan tie around is neck and a navy blue backpack. He had a dark brown belt. His name was Tim.

His female friend was around the same height as him with (H/L), (H/C) hair and soft (E/C) eyes. She wore a crimson red jacket that was tied comfortable around her waist and a (F/C) shirt with white trimmings around the collar. She had (2F/C) knee-length, shorts. An pale (F/C) purse with a white pokeball on it was slung loosely over her arm.

"Something's close" you loudly whispered to the two in front of you as you pulled yourself up a small mound of roots. The three of you came upon the edge of the forest you were traversing.

"See, this is what I'm talking about, my heart is pounding" Jack said to the both of you as he and Tim slowly exited the forest whilst you stayed behind. Knowing Tim he was most likely going to mess things up some how.

"Get down, get down, get down" Jack said as he and Tim layed down and hid behind a patch of tall grass. You leaned against the trunk of a nearby tree and watched the scene play out with contentment.

Thy both leaned upwards slightly to watch the crying and wailing Cubone. Jack's face was fairly normal with a slight amount of fear etched into it. Tim, on the other hand, had a look of disappointment with a facial expression that said, 'you're still being serious, right?'.

"A-a Cubone?" He looked at the Cubone as it let out a loud wail into the sky, he looked at Jack with a quizzical look. Jack smiled at him as Tim let out an exasperated sigh.

"We're not catching you a pokemon, are we?" Jack gave him a somewhat puzzled and disappointed look. You chuckled slightly at Jack's expression.

"What?" Jack asked him plainly.

"Jack, tell me you didn't plan this," Tim glared slightly at Jack, who then looked back at you for help. You shook your head at him and chuckled slightly. Jack turned back to look at Tim.

"How dare you! Ok" Jack said the last part as if supporting himself.

"Of course not! Come on!" Jack kept insisting. After a short moment,

"Ok.. maybe," he said with a bit of shame. Tim sighed before getting up and jogging over to where I was standing. Jack got up and started following him.

"It was a full moon last night, and my mum heard it crying it's eyes out, okay? She thought I was having a nightmare and she brought me a glass of warm milk!" Jack said as if he were desperately trying to persuade Tim to stay. Tim then turned to him,

"Dude, I thought you wanted to, y'know hang out and relive the good 'ol days, like when we were kids," Tim said while grimacing.

"I do!" Jack responed with enthusiasm,

"Come on look, that is the perfect pokemon for you!" He exclaimed as the Cubone let out a wail of despair.

Jack turned to look back at you as if asking you to help, you sighed.

"Atleast give it a chance, Tim!" You called out to him. Tim sighed before tunring back to Jack and raising his eyebrow.

"Are you sure about this?" He asked.

"Yes!" Jack exclaimed, "I've thought long and hard about this, okay? Water-type is not right for you, and neither is fire-type, but Cubone is -!" You cut Jack of before he could finish.

"Lonely!" She called out to both of them, although you did feel a little bad for the small pokemon.

"Exactly!" Jack said to Tim. Tim did not look amused.

"Okay, well thank you Jack, thank you for that, but is there any other emotional truth bombs you wanna drop on me?" "Maybe later.." Jack responed while he rummaged through his bag before sighing,

"Hey, (Y/N)?" He calls out to you.

"Yeah?" You call back.

"Do you have a spare pokeball? I think I left mine at home...," he trailed of as he continued to look through his bag. You rolled your eyes, typical Jack, he would always forget little things like thing in the moment of excitement. You zipped open your (F/C) purse and took out the spare pokemon ball. While doing this, you brussed your hand against the pokeball that contained your single pokemon, your Frogadier. You had him since you were ten and you two were pretty close. You brushed thoughts aside for later before petting his pokeball slightly and picking the other one up. With your perfect pokeball throw you chucked it to Tim, who fumbled a bit before finally catching it. Tim then chucked it to Jack.

Jack pressed the small button in the centre and the line around the middle of the pokeball glew a bright white.

"Just give me the ball," Tim said, sounding defeated. The two then walked out of sight into the open field, you hear Jack saying something like "catching a pokemon is not about skill." You sighed before stretching and following the two. You managed to catch up to them as Jack was telling Tim that the pokemon has to pick him to.

"Try complimenting it," you suggested to Tim. Tim rolled his eyes before walking closer to the Cubone.

"Hey, Cubone. What's up buddy?" Tim said to the Cubone, catching it's attention.

"You know, not everyone can.. pull off wearing the skull of their dead relative, but, you know, you sure can!" Tim tried to cheerfully compliment the Cubone, but the Cubone stopped crying and turned to Tim, snarling slightly. Tim grin slowly faded away and the Cubone turned to him. You shook your head, knowing something like this would happen.

"Ok he didn't like that," tou could faintly hear Tim say.

You unzipped your purse and pulled out the pokeball containing Frogadier, and fearing for Tim's saftey you threw it near him and shouted

"Frogadier, GO!" Your Frogadier jumped out of it's pokeball and snarled and the Cubone.

"Frogadier, just scare it away," you said to Frogadier. It shook it's head like it was shaking a fly away before snarling at the Cubone, effectively chasing it away. You held your breath in anticipation, you knew that Frogadier was close to evolving, it was just a matter of waiting. You let out a shaky breath. Jack was over by Tim, who looked a bit shaken up about being close to and aggressive pokemon. Frogadier brought his empty pokeball over to you, and you gently tapped him on the head with it, sending him back inside. Jack looked over and nodded at you, looking grateful.
