Katy's POV:
"He's coming! Really Mommy," Ari screamed when I told her, about Chris. It felt really good too. No more secrets.
"I'm so glad you finally told him," Melvin said. Before I could respond there was 3 loud thumps at the door.
"Is that him," Ari yelled. Jumping from the hospital bed and beating me to the door. She opened it and immediately tackled Chris.
"Hi," he lifted her. "Nice to see you, too."
"Hey Katy," I waved. "Wassup Mel," Chris greeted Melvin.
"Is Chris really my daddy, Mommy?" Ari questioned
"Yeah I am," Chris answered for me. "And when you get better, Daddy's gonna take you to my house in Los Angeles. Would you like that?" She bounced up in Chris's arms.
"Can I go Mommy?" I had no problem with Chris spending time with her. I just don't know about letting her go all the way across the country with him. Not that I don't trust him it was just that I don't know if he's ready for that kind of responsibility.
"Umm," I stuttered. "We'll see!" Chris frowned at my uncertainty.
"Ok," she bounced again. Chris walked her back to the hospital bed and sat at the egde of it.
"Daddy," the word slipped from her mouth so naturally. "Can I bring Cocoa with me?"
"Sure, sweetie," Chris said. "Who's Cocoa?"
"My pit," she said. Chris looked at me knowing I hate dogs.
"It's a stuffed animal," I corrected. Auriella frowned at me.
"No, he is real as any other dog since you won't let me have a real one," she snapped sticking out her toungue and Chris started dying.
"Daddy, has a Pitbull at home named Diamond. I can get you puppy if you want Ari."
"Yah! Yah! Yah!" She hollered. "Please"-puppy dog eyes-"let me go mommy."
"Let me talk to Daddy"-airquotes-"real fast outside."
Chris's POV:
"I'll be right back Mijo," I said stepping out my red Ferrari. Him and I are leaving back to L.A. tomorrow night so we going to happy hour at Mystic to turn up the rest of the day. I decided to stop at hospital before we got too turnt and I ended up forgetting to stop by.
"Get that DNA test while you in there," he hollered getting in the drivers seat to park.
"Shut the fuck up," I retorted but the sad part ofnthe matter was that I as thinking about getting the test for numerous reasons. In case Katy started some baby mama drama where I had to go to court to prove Auriella was indeed my child or if Ari really wasn't mine after all. Both cases were highly unlikely but I had to be prepared.
I knocked on the door not sure whether it was the room or not. I was immediately tackled by Ari, forcing me to catch her before I fell out the door back down the steps. I lifted her,"Nice to see you too."I also greeted Melvin and Katy who waved shyly.
"Is Chris really my daddy, mommy." Ari asked.
"Yes, I am. And when you get better, Daddy's gonna take you to my house in Los Angeles. Would you like that?" She hopped up and down in my embrace excitedly.
"Can I go mommy," We both turned turned to Katyana.
"Ummmm....." She really had to think bout it. It was one of those da fuck moments: I haven't spent time with her in 5 years and I can't take her for one weekend.
"We'll see." She finally said and I gave her a death stare.
"Ok," Ari stated. I carried her back to the hospital bed and sat on the opposite end.
"Daddy," she said and I warmed up inside. "Can I bring Cocoa with me?"
"Sure sweetie," I said a little lost as to what Cocoa was. I figured it was a gerbel or stuffed animal but when I asked she told me it was a pitbull. I was shocked knowing how allergic Katy is to dogs.
"It is actually a stuffed animal," she corrected and I caught my breath.
"No, he is real as any other dog since you won't let me have a real one," Auriella snapped at her mom. That shit had me rolling me her attitude just like her momma's. Then I got a good idea.
"Daddy, has a Pitbull at home named Diamond. I can get you puppy if you want Ari." I said hoping she liked the idea.
"Yah! Yah! Yah!" She exclaimed. "Please! Can I go mommy?"
"Let me go talk to daddy real fast first?" Katy did her airquotes around Daddy and it made me think of how it she called me Big Daddy that day she got pregnant. I smirked. She led the day out the door and her ass was looking good in those sweats.
Melvin's POV:
"How come everytime my dad is here mommy has talk to one of you guys outside. I asked Daddy and he said it wasn't about me. Did he lie to me, Uncle Melly?" Damn this little girl notices everything but I'm not shocked her mother was just like that growing up.
At the age of Four Katyana realized my parents were at the verge of a divorce before I did and I was 13. I guess it was because I was always out with friends and she was too young go anywhere so she home during there worst arguments and she saw how violent my dad got when he was drunk. After my parents finally did split we saw him every other week, then every other weekend, then once a week, and by the time I was sixteen he disappeared completely from our lives.
That's why I wonder having experienced that why would Katy had even thought of keeping Chris away from Auriella. She only hurt herself and the baby growing inside her at the time. For days on end she cried herself to sleep from missing him. But she never reached out and now she suffers the consequences.
I get why she may not think Chris is responsible enough to care for her based on his media image. But the reason he wasn't in Auriella s life was not because he was wild and crazy, its her fault so she can't say no cause Chris deserves a real chance that she shouldn't deprive him on based on his past.
She probably outside babbling off her reasons why Ari should stay in VA but in the back of her mind she knows Ari visiting Chris will eventually happen so better now than later. It's a weekend so Ari has no school and she already said she's comfortable going. Katy just needs to let go.
"No he'd never lie to you." I said reassuring my lil' niecy.
"I'm gonna name my pit, Tiana like the princess in the frog movie. And I'll dress her in tutu's and tiarasnthat marxh Cocoa's...." She rambled on and on about her new puppy that I knew Katy wouldn't let her keep. But I listened hoping that any second those two would come back inside.
