chapter twenty-three

"CAITLIN!" she heard a voice calling out for her as she walked through the hallways of Hogwarts. She turned around to see Tonks running.

Caitlin smiled and looked at her best friend. As Tonks caught up with her they both started to walk. "I can finally see you are getting exercise" Caitlin joker with her best friend as Tonks hit her.

"Shut it" Tonks muttered as Caitlin giggled. "So how was Christmas?" Tonks asked as Caitlin smiled. "It was busy and great. The twins got lots of presents, Ryan and I got broom sticks and many other things. How was it with you?" Caitlin asked Tonks.

"It was quiet" Tonks said "just how I like it" Caitlin noticed that Tonks was sad. "Are you alright?" Tonks smiled at her best friend.

"Never better."

A part of Caitlin didn't agree with that but she would ahah to bug Tonks later on because they got to their DADA class.

The professor told everyone to sit down as soon as they got in. "Today we are going to learn about Hex-deflection" the professor told the class as they all got seated and took out their books.

"Turn to page 106" the professor said as she began the class. "Hex-deflection is used to deflect a hex. What is one form of hex-deflection?" the professor asked as no one raised their hand.

Caitlin put her hand up as the professor turned to her "yes miss Monroe?" the professor asked as Caitlin answered her "Salvio Hexia."

The professor nodded her head "correct" she said as she returned to the broad and wrote something one it.

"I want you to try and name all of the hex-deflections" she said as the students sighed but started to write.

After class Tonks walked away from Caitlin. Caitlin raised an eyebrow and decided to follow her "Tonks?" she called out into the busy corridor.

Caitlin didn't spot Tonks but Charlie who was talking to some of his Quidditch teammates. "Charlie!" Caitlin yelled as Charlie looked back to see his girlfriend.

"Have you seen Tonks?" Caitlin asked as she caught up with him. "No I haven't, and hello to you as well" Caitlin sighed and kissed his cheek "I'm sorry, hi Charlie" Charlie grinned "that's better" he said as he kissed her.

"What's wrong with Tonks?" Charlie asked as Caitlin shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know, she was fine until I mentioned Christmas" Caitlin said as they started to walk to Care of Magical Creatures.

"That's strange" Charlie said as Caitlin nodded her head. "Yeah it is" she said and saw that Tonks was sitting beside someone else for the lesson.

"I didn't do anything wrong" Caitlin said to Charlie who smiled at her and put his arm on her shoulder "I know, sweets" he said as he looked up to see the teacher.

Charlie removed his arm from Caitlin's shoulder but gave her hand a quick squeeze as the professor started to talk.

"Welcome back everyone!" The professor said "today we are going to be studying Portlocks!" he said excitedly.

"Now what can someone tell me about them?" The professor asked looking around the students. "They are native to England and Ireland?" A student said unsure of her answer.

"Yes that is correct" the professor said and then started to tell the students about the portlock but Caitlin didn't listen because she was trying to find out in her head what she had done to make Tonks not talk to her any more.

"Caitlin" Charlie said bringing her out of her trance. "Yes?" she asked as Charlie smiled at her "it's lunch and class has ended" he told her as she blushes "sorry, we can go now" she told him as Charlie puts his arm around her waist.
