"Smokekit?!" A voice from above shouted. "Smokekit, wake up!!" The cat hissed, worry was hinted in their voice.
The grey she-kit opened her eyes slowly and looked up. It was Crowfur; a black Tom-cat with flaming yellow-orange eyes. "C-Crowfur?" She groaned and sat up, dazed by the sudden sunlight.
"Oh, thank StarClan." The black Tom said out loud and turned his head, "Icepelt! She's here!"
In an instant, Smokekit's father appeared over her. His tongue rasped over her forehead gently.
"Smokekit, are you okay? What happened to you?" Crowfur asked, wrapping his tail around her small grey-furred body.
Icepelt shot him a glare and picked Smokekit up by the scruff. He started trotting towards the hunting grounds. "I'll bring her to Echoleaf," Icepelt paused and scanned Crowfur with worried eyes; he had just found his daughter in rogue grounds untouched. "Don't waste a heartbeat standing there; go find some fresh kill. I'm sure Skystar would be thankful." The white warrior muffled through Smokekit's scruff as he started trotting away.
Smokekit reopened her eyes and turned her eyes up to him. "Let go of me, you grump!"
Startled by this sudden attack, Icepelt dropped her and glared at his daughter. "You can't talk to me like that, missy! Get back to camp, your legs work fine!" He growled.
Not giving a response, Smokekit hissed at her father and spun around, lashing her side from side to side. She gave a short wonder of why Icepelt was so mad at her, but Crowfur was very worried. She also wondered about how the rest of the Clan react when she returned.Icepelt trotted beside Smokekit with his head hanging low by his paws. His claws were unsheathed. It scared Smokekit.
As they neared the CloudClan entrance, Smokekit started galloping. Icepelt's paws were pounding on the floor and they got closer to Smokekit with every hit on the damp grass.
They started racing into the camp. Icepelt's teeth bared as Smokekit started running faster. The two skimmed the fern entrance and came to a halt in the clearing.
Icepelt was breathing heavy, but not as much as Smokekit. Her sides were heaving uncontrollably, but that didn't stop her from dipping her head when Skystar raced out of her den to greet them.
"Echoleaf!" The leader shouted. A few heartbeats after, Skystar bent down and touched noses with the kit.
The medicine cat slipped out of the brambles that led from her den and darted towards them. She carefully picked Smokekit up by the scruff and trotted back to her den.
Smokekit saw cats appearing from the inside of their dens. It didn't worry her, but it made her feel ashamed. No cat should be put down like this, especially in front of a crowd.
"StarClan forbid I walk on my own!" Smokekit growled out loud so Echoleaf would put her down.
To her surprise, the medicine cat ignored her and kept her tracking on. Smokekit skinned the floor as Echoleaf ducked into the brambles. She dropped her off on a moss bed and turned to grab some herbs.
"Why is everyone so mad at me?" Smokekit asked. I 's true, she was fairly confused about what was going on.
When no response came from the black she-cat, Echoleaf turned worriedly. "It's okay, everything will be alright soon. Don't be worried, my love." She gave Smokekit a lap on the head and quickly wrapped her neck in cobwebs. It was certainly not enough to choke the kit, but enough to put a small amount of pressure.
"What? I'm fine!" Smokekit hissed at the medicine cat at once.
Echoleaf turned with a sack of leaves in her jaws and she set them in front of Smokekit. "I don't need cobwebs or any of your foul-tasting herbs!" The kit spat, desperately trying to get Echoleaf's attention.
But there was no answer. It ticked Smokekit off, she wanted to snap her jaws on something hard. Then, her stomach churned. Smokekit's eyes rolled back into her head and she fell onto her side; eyes fluttering to a close.
