The Outbreak

Prologue

There's a girl, covered in blood, running through the trees in the dark, limping in pain after being stabbed in her outer thigh, by what looks to be a small, curved dagger. The girl is panting heavily, and you can see her warm breath peering through the cold night air. She's wearing a dirty white tank top with black ripped jeans and has short dark brown hair and blue eyes with freckles and a scar on the right side of her forehead. She looks extremely well built for her age. She seems to be running from someone, or something that's chasing her. She stops running to hide behind a large tree, as she pulls a dagger out of her leg, looking up to the sky, in hopes of easing the pain, as if she's used to it. She stands with the dagger held firmly in her hand as she waits for the threat to approach her from the other side of the tree. She holds her breath to minimize the sound of her heavy breathing in the silence of the night, as she waits for the armed person to pass by her before she strikes. As they make it about two feet past her, she jumps onto their back, screaming in a low tone while stabbing them repeatedly until they fall to the ground, dead. She holds her leg where she was stabbed as she spits on the dead body while saying, "good riddance, asshole". She then notices that they had a gun, so she picks it up, checking for ammo. She then puts the gun on her shoulder, using the gun strap. "I doubt you'll need this", she says as she turns to see she's being followed by people with flashlights. Suddenly she gets shot in the ear, as they start to open fire on her. Without more than a second of thinking, she dives to the ground, behind the body of the man she had just killed.
