Chapter 14

FLASHBACK 3 YEARS AGO
CHRISTEN's POV

Running my hands through my hair I sighed as I sat at the table in the dining room of our apartment. I was waiting for Y/n to come home. It was 2 in the morning. Her shift ended at 11.

I heard her key turn in the door as she walked in. She didn't notice me until she turned the light on.
"Jesus Christ! Chris why are you sitting in the dark?!" She whisper yells as she clinched her chest.

"You got off of work at 11."
"I did some overtime."
"Since when did overtime involve drinking, Y/n?"
"I'm not in the mood, Chris. I'm gonna go shower. Where's Braelynn."

"In her room asleep. Maybe you'd know that if you were here. And yeah, go take your shower."
"You could join me."
"I'm tired Y/n."

"Chris it's been a while."
"I know I'm sorry. I'm just not really in the mood. I was waiting up to make sure you got home."

Y/n nods and walks over to me placing a kiss on my forehead.
"I love you. You're everything to me, always know that, my queen."
"I love you too." I couldn't help but to blush. Gosh she's amazing.

I dropped Braelynn off with my mom this morning before I went to practice. The team and I had some meeting today about our upcoming game.

As I left the meeting, I bumped into an old friend. "Lucas?!"
"Christen? Hey! How are you?"
He opens his arms embracing me in a hug.
"What's going on?"
"Nothing I just transferred here, so I just got off a tour to find all of my classes."

"I was heading to my apartment. That's so cool, I haven't seen you in ages."
"Yeah, I know. Life's been kind of crazy. Probably crazier for you though. Your daughter? How old is she now?"
" Braelynn, yeah she's turning 3 soon."

"That's crazy. Who would've thought?"
"Certainly not me. Sometimes surprises are the best gifts."
"I know this is weird but, are you busy right now?"
"Nope I'm free all day."
"Do you maybe want to go get a drink?"

"Yeah sure."

Lucas and I got in his car and headed down to one of the bars close to the school. I used to find him really attractive in high school. Age has treated him well. He still looks the same.

We began talking about old memories as we had a drink. He played on our schools soccer team and we were kind of the stars at the school. He also played basketball so he knew of Y/n.

"So did you get a dorm or did you go into the apartments?"
"I got an apartment here. About 15 minutes from here actually. In Menlo."
"Ooh okay, yeah I stay in Mountain Park. 15 minutes away in the opposite direction."
"Does your daughter live up here with you?"
"Yeah of course. We have a good system going."

"Do you want to go hang out at my place? I feel like we've been sitting here for a while."
"Yeah sure."

We headed to Lucas' apartment. When we got there, our conversation just carried itself.
"Danica was one hell of a girl though."
"You two broke up and the school exploded." I laughed.
"Well you know, I had a huge crush on you in high school."

"I didn't know that."
"Oh come on, it was so obvious Chris."
"I'm serious I didn't know."
"Makes sense, you were in a relationship basically all of high school."
