Chapter 9: The Plan Begins

We were all gathered around the large table. Rocket was speaking.

'When Thanos snapped his fingers, Earth became ground zero for a power surge of ridiculously cosmic proportions. No one's ever seen anything like it... until two days ago.' A hologram of a planet popped up in front of us. 'On this planet.'

'Thanos is there,' Nebula spoke.

'He used the stones again,' Natasha spoke. Just then Bruce interrupted us.

'Hey, hey, hey. We'd be going in short-handed, you know.'

'Look, he's still got the stones,' I spoke up. 'So...'

'So let's get him... use them to bring everybody back.'

'I agree, Carol. We should do it.' I and Carol glanced at each other.

'Just like that?' Rhodey asked.

'Yeah... just like that,' Steve replied.

'Even if there's a small chance that we can undo this...' Natasha began to say, 'we owe it to everyone who's not in this room to try.'

'If we do this,' Banner spoke, 'how do we know it's gonna end any differently than it did last time?'

'Because before, you didn't have me,' Carol spoke up.

'Hey, new girl, everyone here is about that superhero life. And if you don't mind my asking, where the hell have you been all this time?' Rhodey snapped.

'There are a lot of other planets in the universe. And unfortunately, none of them had you guys,' she replied, keeping her voice even and calm. Just then, Thor stood up and walked over to Carol. She was barely scared as his huge, hulking form approached her. Stretching his hand out, his axe flew, missing her hair and brushing it lightly. She didn't even flinch as a small smile crossed her lips. Placing the axe in front of him, he smiled back at her.

'I like this one.' Having gained his seal of approval, Steve spoke.

'Let's go get this son of a bitch.'
