Authors note: so it's been like...2 years since I last updated. And I don't remember much about where the story was going, so please forgive me for any mistakes I make. I tried reading the previous chapters to get back into the flow. I might even go back and edit/rewrite them.

~Third POV~

Both boys had a nice rest, even though vampires didn't require sleep, it was still nice of the male to keep his mate company while he was actually sleeping.

At the moment they were having breakfast in bed- well only Zack. Since Cinder only needed a glass of blood for the day.

"So Cinder..." started Zack, picking up a piece of bacon and taking a small bite of it, chewing and swallowing. "I wanted to ask you, what's your relationship with that Henry guy?"

Cinder seemed to freeze for a bit, as if thinking of how to respond. "Ah he's just my assistant, you already know this."

There was no response from Zack as he continued to pick at his breakfast, he had grabbed his knife and fork. Stabbing the fork into the sausage to hold it still while he used the knife to slice into it.

"Mmm I see. Then I'm sure you don't mind if I get my own assistant." Zack finally spoke, eating the cut piece from the sausage.

"Zack, if you are thinking of making another vampire your assistant- then you are really wrong. I warned you that these vampires will try getting your blood even if you are my mate-" Cinder stopped talking when Zack began to chuckle.

Cinder furrowed his eyebrows, not liking that his mate was basically laughing at him.

"Oh sweetie, I know that. This is why I was thinking that my assistant could be Mason. He's a werewolf, won't be trying to attack me for my blood. And he's like..very buff, I'm pretty sure he can defeat any of these vampires." Zack said with a small smirk on his face.

Cinder thought about it, then sighed as he reluctantly nodded in agreement. "Fine fine, that'll work. And just for the record, a vampire can easily take down a werewolf. Depending on their abilities actually."

Zack kept in his excitement, finishing up his breakfast and getting out of bed. He planned on finding Mason to let him know of the good news. Pretty sure that Mason was somewhere in this castle so it shouldn't be hard to find him, or...maybe he could wait till midnight. Mason did tell him to meet him out in the woods at midnight.

Zack sighed, but continued to get ready for the day. Putting on his favorite outfit which consisted of black jeans and a dark grey turtle neck, along with his classic vans. Cinder waited for his mate at the door, taking a hold of Zacks hand as they both headed out into the castle.

Their day went smoothly, this time Zack got to spend the whole day with Cinder. No Henry in sight. A yawn came from Zack, a forced one actually but Cinder believed it. "Zack, love, maybe you should head to bed? It's no use being in my office where it's boring."

Zack hummed, it was extremely boring. Just watching Cinder grab a paper, scribble on it, and put it away. "I would love to get some sleep. Join me when you're done." He went over to Cinder, giving the male a kiss on the lips before exiting. Instead of heading to the bedroom, he rushed outside to the woods.

Too easy. Zack had expected to see a vampire out here but no one was in sight, or at least that's what he hoped for. It didn't take long for him to reach the woods, taking slow and careful steps further in. "Mason?" He whispered out into the spooky woods, getting no response.

After several minutes passed, Zack was ready to turn back to the castle- but suddenly an arm wrapped around his waist in a tight hold, while a hand was covering his mouth. As Zack began to struggle, fearing for his life, that same gruff voice he heard yesterday whispered to his ear.

"Zack Zack, calm down. It's me, Mason." Mason slowly released Zack when he felt the boy relax. Zack took in deep slow breaths, turning around to face Mason before landing a smack against the bigger males arm. "You damn idiot!"

Mason chuckled, not really feeling the smack. "Sorry that I scared you, I just didn't want you to run away if I had called your name." Zack shook his head, not responding to him.

"I really am sorry Zack, but let's not talk here." Mason didn't wait for a response, grabbing Zacks hand and leading him through the woods until they arrived at a small cottage looking house. "Your vampire was kind enough to let me stay here."

As they entered, Zack was in awe of the place. Even thought the outside looked shabby, the inside was just spectacular. It was nice and clean, furniture not taking up too much space, the flooring was of smooth wood, and the walls a creamy color.

Mason gestured for Zack to take a seat, so he did on the couch.

"I need to talk to you about Henry." Mason said right away, clearly not wanting to waste another second. Zack simply sat there, motioning with his hand for Mason to continue.

Mason took in a deep breath, pacing a bit in front of Zack. "Henry is basically poisoning Cinder. Every time Henry will bring Cinder a glass of blood, but it's enchanted so that Cinder will just..be attracted to Henry."

It seemed like Zack was hit with a book to the face, shocked by the information. "Wait hold on- how do you know? Why should I even believe you?" Suddenly Mason was sitting next to Zack, grabbing the male by his shoulders.

"Henry told me this. He wanted me to distract you, to pull you away from Cinder so that the enchanted bullshit he's giving Cinder can work." The tone of Masons voice sounded very sincere and just begging for Zack to trust him.

Zack looked into Masons eyes, seeing no trace of lie in them. "Fuck..but, why does Henry want to mess with Cinder and I? Could it be for status or what? All the comics I read the villain usually does stupid shit for some selfish needy reason. Oi and how do you explain these sparks between us? Did you already give me something enchanted too?"

Mason stared at Zack before releasing a laugh, "You really are something Zack...and so many questions. I'm not exactly sure why Henry is doing this, but he has to be stopped. You love Cinder, right? The longer this goes on, it'll have a bad result on your guys bond." He let go of Zacks shoulders, only to grab the boys hands and hold them gently.

"No, I didn't give you anything enchanted. I'm not sure how I can explain these sparks...but these are very real." It was very true that the sparks between these two were there every time they touched. "Zack, in our world there are only monogamous, meaning only one mate."

Zack furrowed his eyebrows, processing all of this information to the best of his ability. "I understand that, then...is it impossible to have more than one?" Of course Zack was very worried about Cinder, but those worries seemed to be beaten by the knowledge of having another mate.

"Not impossible. Rare." Mason brought up Zacks hands to his lips, pressing a soft kiss to the back of the others hands. "I believe it was fate for Henry to assign me such orders. If not, then I would have never met you."

Zack couldn't deny the rapid beating of his heart, he felt a connection to Mason, yet there was some guilt in him. It felt as if he was being unfaithful to Cinder. Yet...this should be acceptable in this world, so it should be okay.

Their eyes soon met again, the atmosphere around them was becoming hot and welcoming. Mason began to move in closer, Zack staying still but felt a pull to the other male. But before they could close the gap, the door to the cottage was snapped open. Cinder standing where the door used to be.

"Cinder.." Zack whispered, eyes wide with a hint of fear.
