Chapter 2~ Spooky

~Cinder Pov~

"Cinder...do you really think this is a good idea? I know you want to watch your beloved but you don't know how to keep your hunger down." Curse the scolding voice of my advisor. I simply rolled my eyes and ignored him. Keeping my focus to the street below us, yes..we are standing on the roof of a house. It gave me a perfect view of the house next door.

My fangs began to throb, a clear signal that my beloved was approaching. I quickly examine the street and spot that silky black messy hair. I always make sure to be here on time, it is my duty to keep him safe. Knowing humans, they are all scums and dangerous creatures. Hah says the vampire.

I hear the door of his house shut close, satisfied that he was safely home.

"Can we leave now Cinder? You saw him go inside. That human is safe." I roll my eyes once again at that annoying voice.

"Seriously Henry, you have to fuck off. This is my beloved, it took me years to figure out my mate wasn't one of my kind. I still don't like the idea of a human being my mate, but I sure as hell ain't letting him go just because he's a human." I didn't get a response from Henry, but it was clear on his face that he was frustrated and wanted to say something back, but held himself back.

I move around on the roof, seeing the light to the bedroom turn on. I really despised those silly curtains at the balcony, I just wanted one final look at my love before leaving.

With a graceful jump, I land on the balcony. Doing my best to peek through the curtains, only getting to see some slight movement inside the room. I curse under my breath, continuing to find a good angle but I only end up knocking something down. I wince and hope that Zack didn't hear the sound, but as I peek through the curtains again, I see him look this way and I quickly jump back to the other roof.

I stay low, Henry doing the same and holding back his laughter. I shoot him a glare and he just shrugs. Damn idiot.

I look back at the balcony, seeing Zack peeking through but quickly moving away, the locking of the balcony doors echoing into the darkness. Darkness...I didn't even notice that the sun had already gone down. Ah ah and before I'm attacked with all that bullshit about vampires not being able to be in the sun, you must know that it's thanks to a witch. Who knew that a couple spells from a witch could protect us from the sun.

And with that...Henry and I head back home.

~Zack's pov~

The loud ringing of my alarm went off, making me jolt up awake with a groan. Damn it. I forgot to turn off the damn alarm. I reach over for my phone on the nightstand, quickly shutting off the annoying noise and tossing my phone back on the nightstand.

I stay sitting on the bed, letting my body slowly realize that it's awake and ready to get moving. That way I can avoid any dizziness when standing up. I toss the blankets off my body and lazily leave the bed, doing a stretch that was very much needed since my back ending up cracking a bit.

I make my way into the bathroom, brushing my teeth and styling my silky black hair. I really dislike the silky look of my hair, makes it look too...glossy. Although many of my girl coworkers said that it's beautiful, and very soft. I chuckle at myself while looking in the mirror, shaking my head.

I walk back into my room and put on my clothes which consisted of a simple pair of blue jeans and a black shirt, along with my beanie and a pair of old converse. I would prefer to stay home, but I do crave my usual coffee and treat from this coffee place not too far down the street.

I head downstairs with my phone and wallet already stuffed in my pocket and snatch the house keys from the hook on the wall by the front door. After making sure I have everything I leave the house, locking the door behind me.

Now begins my walk to the coffee place, and it was a perfect day. With clouds covering the sky, signaling that it will rain sometime today.

Today the café was pretty empty, with only five people here, it's usually like that at this time of the day. I head over to the counter, waiting behind two people. As I look around I notice the change of decor, the walls used to be a dark red but now it's a dark brown color...almost like coffee. The tables were still the same black color, I guess only the walls were changed.

As I continue glancing around for anything else that was changed, I notice a familiar face sitting at one of the tables to the right. "Luis?" I call out instinctively, the person at the table lifts their head.

I smile and decide to walk towards him, and as I get closer he seems to recognize me as well. Luis stands up with a smile on his face, and before I could get a word out he just pulls me into a hug which I end up returning.

We then pull away, now getting a chance to talk, "Luis! It's so good to see ya, it's been so long. Haven't seen you since high school." I chuckle.

"Too long honestly. You never stayed in touch." Luis said with a small pout, making me roll my eyes.

"Yeah sorry about that, I sorta got distracted by the adult life and...other things." I answered sheepishly, scratching the back of my neck.

He rolls his eyes, "We gotta catch up. Why don't I treat you to something from here?"

"Oh uh, I'll buy my own. Thanks though." I smile and get back to the line, luckily no one else came in to the café so the counter was completely free to order at. Yet I was stopped by a hand on my shoulder, I turn to look at Luis.

"I insist." Before I can reject his offer, he walks pass me to the employee at the register and orders off the menu. I simply wait which wasn't too long, Luis soon returns with the stuff.

I get a look at the items and my eyes widen, "You still remember my favorite kind of drink and muffin!" I sit at the table Luis had been sitting at.

He smiles and places the food in front of me, "Of course I still remember! We used to be really close and you would always order this whenever we went to a café." he sits down and smiles at me.

I smile back and take a bite of the chocolate muffin and moan, "Fuck...this is sooooo good." I look at Luis, catching him biting his lip.

Maybe he wants some of the muffin? Well too bad, I don't like sharing. I finish eating my muffin while taking sips of my iced coffee.

"We should catch up Zack, here's my number." Luis grabbed my phone which was on the table and types in his number and hands it back to me.

"Call me when you have time." he leans over the table and pecks my cheek before heading out of the café.

He left before I could get some words out...again. I shake my head and pick up my phone, looking at the new added contact. Sending Luis a quick message: 'I forgot to say thank you for the food💕'

And send.

I put my phone back down on the table, sighing. Today seemed to be a good day.
