I felt like a different person heading back to the office.
I was never a huge fan of One Direction. I kind of knew about them, but really it was Giselle who was the true "directioner" of our household. She dragged me to a couple of their concerts, and I'm proud to say I was her shoulder to cry on both when Zayn left, and when they announced their hiatus.
But something about meeting Harry made me feel special. Sure, he'd probably met with more photographers than he could remember, but the way he spoke to me made me feel unique.
"How was the meeting?" Angie asked as soon as I closed our office door.
"It was good, actually. I thought I would somehow mess up but.. He was really nice. He wants to see my sketches. I'm actually going to meet him for lunch to talk about the campaign." I tried not to smile or blush too much while I put my stuff back in my desk.
"Nice job, Townes." Bill said, briefly looking up from his computer.
"Oh, that reminds me! He said my name was 'pretty' too," I told mostly Angie. Although Bill was clearly still paying attention.
"You do have a pretty name. I've always been a bit envious," Angie gushed.
I laughed and sat down behind my desk. Angie was such a nice person, pretty too. But she was self-conscious and I knew she never valued herself as much as she should've. "Oh come on, Angie is an adorable name!"
She cackled in her Angie way. "Yeah, I'm sure you think 'Angie' is adorable. 'Angela', however.. It's like my parents wanted me to work in an office!"
"You don't know the half of it!" Bill exclaimed playfully, throwing his hands up in comical distress.
We all laughed together. Moments like that remind me of why I wanted to stay out of the limelight; coworkers like them were hard to come by.
"Can we all just agree that all three of us were destined to work in an office?" I said through the laughter.
Angie held her plastic water bottle up in the air. "A toast," she started, "to Nancy, Bill, and Angela! May our children also be cursed with secretaries' names!"
