The taxi that Azazel had used to follow the detective stopped at a safe distance from where her car was parked. The place where Belial had summoned Detective Decker, and where he supposedly held Trixie, was a warehouse with two main buildings. The detective was going into one of them through the front door and Mazikeen had chosen the same one, but she was going through the side. Azazel wanted to follow the detective, but the second building, left unexplored, irked her tremendously.
She decided to do a quick sweep of it, thinking that maybe Belial had told the detective to go directly to the other building and thus it was a useless effort, but she wanted to make sure. She ran through the first floor and climbed the stairs to the second. She only gave a quick look into each of the rooms, half hoping to see Trixie, half hoping not to see her. She wanted to return to the detective as quickly as possible, which is why it was disheartening to find Trixie on the third floor of the otherwise empty building.
Azazel stopped at the door for a second damning her luck. Trixie was lying in the middle of the room, barely breathing for what she could tell. And there was no one else there. She wanted to warn the detective and get them all out of the building, but when she pulled her phone out she realise she had no service whatsoever. Her only course of action was to take Trixie far away to safety and then come back for the detective, if she was still alive by then.
She ran to Trixie's side and gently shook her, but the energy that she once had felt from the girl, the one that was so similar to that of Detective Decker, was almost gone, along with any other sign of life, apart from a very light breathing. She may had been drugged, or maybe chocked. She didn't know what to do. "Trixie?" There was no answer, only the noises of the background and her will of feeling that energy once again. Oh, Detective Decker would be devastated the second she saw this. Trixie lying on the floor of the cold empty warehouse, all alone, even if Azazel was with her. She couldn't bear the thought. She grabbed tightly the hand of the girl, praying that she had enough strength to hold on to life long enough to get her to a hospital, but odds weren't in her favour. She kept thinking on the energy she once had. She imagined it so vividly she thought she was feeling it.
Then Trixie breathed deeply as if she had been infused with life once again. Azazel opened her eyes, which were glowing gold, and realised that she wasn't just imagining that energy, she was in fact feeling it once again. Her eyes faded back to her natural brown and she couldn't but wonder about what had just happen. "Did I do this?" Azazel whispered, so focused of Trixie's breathing, she didn't notice Patrick Brown standing right behind her until he grabbed her by the neck and lifted her off the ground.
"I know I said I wouldn't kill you, but you keep getting in the way of my trying to kill other people," Belial said.
Her feet dangled finding nothing to support herself with while she gripped the hands that were choking her, trying to get some room to breathe but getting none.
"Really, my plan is failing because of you. You're the one who knew I was here on Earth. How did you know? And how did you get Lucifer here anyways? Just tell me so I don't make the same mistakes next time."
"I didn't. Lucifer realised you were gone the second you stepped out of Hell, you stupid waste of air," she wheezed.
"That ungrateful bastard. I'm doing this for him. His head is elsewhere. He needs his focus back. The only way to do that is killing that damned detective of his. I thought killing you would be, well, overkill, but now I think I'll settle for it. And if you're not here to save that little girl, then I guess she'll die too. Again. Will the detective die out of grieve? That would be interesting."
The only thing Azazel could think about was Trixie, unconscious and defenceless, waiting for her time to die. If she didn't get her out of there, no one would. Detective Decker and Mazikeen were in the other building, and if Lucifer was lurking around he would most probably be following the detective. Azazel was alone, and that meant Trixie was too.
Azazel wanted Belial to stop, to get him out of Patrick's body and disappear forever. With that sole thought, her eyes glowed golden again and were reflected on his. His face contorted to one of pain without understanding what was happening, but he threw an accusatory glare at Azazel, who he deemed the cause for it. He couldn't hold her anymore. His strength left him and he fell to his knees.
"What are you doing?" He demanded is a weak growl.
Azazel didn't answer. She told herself that she had to keep doing whatever it was she was doing, because it was working: it was killing him. To the point where he fell fulminated, not just dead, but eliminated from existence itself.
