Here's the thing: When Wallace had imagined beating up Jacob, and he has many times, he hadn't expected it to end so quickly.

"Get off him," This is Bella, whom of which snatches back Wallace's hand and despite the snarl that leaves Wallace's mouth, she frowned deeply at him. "Wall, calm down."

Wallace pauses for a moment, letting the bright red of anger inside of his head slowly fade and he finds his body uncoiling, softening, and turns at the sound of someone hissing in pain. The sound belongs to Jacob, who of which is nursing a purple bruise which is already beginning to yellow since the wolf has rapid healing.

Bella's voice is speaking sharply, tone enraged, "Jacob, why would you do something like that? Why would you put Charlie in danger? I thought you cared about him?"

Jacob meets her gaze, steely like he has any right to be angry. "I did it because he deserves the right to know. Bella, Jesus, you've been gone for months. He's already beginning to mourn over you like you're dead. And I guess you are..."

"That isn't your decision to make," Bella snarls, and Jacob sucks in a deep breath.

"He's stoppied eating and sleeping," Jacob replies and when Bella's face falters, Jacob continues. "He's worried sick about you and I couldn't let him go on like that. I shouldn't have made the decision but I also don't regret it."

Silence stands between them and then Bella is dropping her stiffened shoulders. Wallace wants to argue for her, to still connect his knuckles with Jacob's smug face but decides against it. Mature adults don't fight and Wallace is a dad now.

"He won't be here until Thursday," Jacob intones, and for a moment Wallace can see the true remorse in Jacob's tone for hurting Bella but also can't allow himself to accept it. Wallace won't ever be a fan of Jacob Black, neither will Edward, but for some unknown reason, Bella adores the male and for that reason Wallace finds himself speaking.

"It was bound to happen eventually," Wallace states and he places a gentle palm against the small of Bella's back, feeling the vertebras of her spine. "We can't do anything about it now."

Bella sucks in a deep breath, unneeded but it's a comfort to her, and nods. "Okay,"

Jacob moves to open his mouth but in an action unlike herself, Bella shoots him a glare and shakes her head. "No, I don't want to hear anything else from you right now Jacob,"

Before Jacob can reply, Bella is moving back towards the house. Wallace follows after her, because he always will, and there they find Edward in the dining room. The male has his hands clenched in fists at his sides, and there's anger evident in every line of his body but once he sees Bella, he softens subtly.

Bella Swan will always be their mutual weakness and Wallace has stopped trying to deny it.

"Alice will help you," Edward speaks, gentle and moves so he can wrap his arms around Bella's middle, his hands finding Wallace's on the small of the female's back and giving it a faint squeeze. Edward's next words are whispered into Bella's hair, "We'll all be here for you. You won't hurt Charlie, we won't let you."

Bella's shoulders lessen more and then she's nodding. "Jacob said he's coming Thursday so I have a couple of days to prepare I guess. That's one good thing,"

"And we're all about silver linings," Wallace intones, causing Edward's lips to quirk up and for Bella to finally turn around to look at him. Her eyes are annoyed and Wallace opens his mouth to ask but Bella is already slapping a hand against his chest.

"What were you thinking? Trying to fight him? Did you forget how to use your words?" Bella snipes, and despite her tone, Wallace can tell she isn't actually upset.
