(Lily P.O.V.)

Severus was my best friend ever since we moved to Spinner's End; he was the one to tell me I was a witch. But we broke out, so to speak. He accused me of being a Mudblood when James and his friends cornered him a day. Mudblood is an offensive word to call muggle-borns, usually accompanied by the word 'filthy'. Even though he tried seeking forgiveness from me a dozen times, I couldn't, I have a respect to uphold.

Emmeline shook me out of my thoughts by hugging me to the core and James shot me a 'sorry' look over her shoulders. Alice was next. Remus, Peter, and Sirius each shook my hand, having dared not to hug me by James, who was eyeing them as a hawk would do to its prey.

Everyone was so busily talking about their holiday and vacations, I just had to stare out the window, and try my best not to hear them, after all, my holiday was filled with the word 'freak' from Tuney and her pumpkin, Vernon Dursley, who actually looked like a pumpkin or more like a hot air balloon. I smiled at this thought.

A rap on the door made everyone still again and James open it. An eager-looking fifth-year boy was standing at the doorway, cracking his knuckles.

"Sir Potter and Miss Evans, when exactly will the Prefect's meeting start?"

Oh God! We had totally forgotten after the incident with Snape.

"Now," I answered before James could say anything, but the look on his face told me he agreed.

"I'm sorry we forgot" he whispered while guiding me to the Prefects' Compartment.

"It's okay, I totally forgot too" I replied.

Upon reaching the compartment, many eager faces were awaiting the door to be open. James looked contented with himself during his tiny speech and I couldn't help but smile at him whenever his eyes caught mine.

After delegating duties to the students - who included - Remus, Emmeline, Bellatrix, Lucius, Ted, Lovida, Barty, and Lizzy - we hurried back to the Marauders' Compartment where we sat in silence, eating.

I entered the Great Hall alongside Lily, our badges glinting by the light of the thousands of lamps that floated above. I lifted my chest a little, feeling deeply proud to be Gryffindor's Quidditch Captain and Head Boy. I could feel Lily's face swelling with pride too.

We hurriedly took seats at our table, I sat between Remus and Peter while Lily sat over the table between Sirius and Alice. I cast Padfoot a warning look to which he only smiled. We were late to the feast due to prefect duties and assisting Professor McGonagall with the first years. The sorting was over, thankfully.

After Professor Dumbledore's talk, I ushered the first years to our dormitory: the Gryffindor Tower - telling them everything they need to know about the School, Teachers, and of course, Quidditch.

I called "Quidditch" to the Fat Lady's portrait where she expressed welcome to the students and swung open to reveal the neatly arranged common room with the fire blazing away in the fireplace. Lily remained on the corridors with Emmeline and Remus to guide old students and to give the password I invented.

Days passed, Months passed, the term was over, and every time I asked Lily Evans out to Hogsmeade, she simply declined, except that I could see her grinning when walking away.

I decided to stay at Hogwarts for Christmas since it's my last Christmas here with my fellow Marauders and Lily and Emmeline. Alice left us to spend time with her boyfriend, Frank Longbottom.

Being the only ones in the dormitory, except for a few second years, we were free to do whatever we want, whenever we want to, but having four prefects in our circle, including me as Head Boy and Lily as Head Girl, we relentlessly resisted the urge to carry on with the tradition of the Marauders in helping Peeves to create our idea of a 'Perfect Christmas.'

Instead, we resorted to the common room - reading, playing with our wands, and eating food we smuggled out of the kitchen. The school grounds were awfully quiet and I couldn't help but shout when I wanted something.

"Yo, Pads! Send me my quill!"

"Hey, Emma! Be quiet, will you!"

Yep, I shouted at everyone, making it fun, but it didn't seem to be much fun to them. They were scowling at me whenever I did.
