|YOUR POV|

I woke up to monokumas annoying high pitched voice on my monitor. it was the dreadful noise i woke up to every morning. But today, i wasn't as bothered by it. It was nagitos birthday! and i wanted to make him feel super special, even under the circumstances.

After getting dressed, (basic school uniform with a f/c sweater over it) i skipped down to the hotel lobby and practically jumped up
the stairs.

To my suprise, i saw nagito, sitting by himself at a table, eating just a bagel.

This isn't the way he should spend his special day...

I walked over to where he was sitting and pulled out a chair next to him. He looked up, surprised.

"You really want to sit over here with trash like me? I don't deserve this..."

I looked at him, pouting slightly. I hated when he did that. I looked him dead in the eye and said

"Nagito. you're not trash. I hate when you say that about yourself,"

you start to sniffle. just thinking about it sometimes just made you want to cry.

"because it's not true! I- I, nevermind. I want to sit here with you."

|Noones POV?|

Nagito looked at you, very surprised. he looked like no one had ever shown him that much kindness before, like it was new to him.

"Ah, but-" he started, but you didn't want to hear him say anything else bad. you shut him up by tightly wrapping your arms around him.
"promise me you won't say stuff like that. okay? because it isn't true. okay?"

Nagito was stunned. he sat in silence before giving a reply.

"ah, okay y/n." He smiled and hugged back.

You felt so much better after. More upbeat, like you could do anything. You pulled away, not being able to hold back your giant smile from your face. It made nagito smile a bit too. it was contagious.

"Ah! i almost forgot." You said, quickly changing the subject to something on a lighter note. Reaching behind your back to grab a small box wrapped in light green paper with a neat gold bow. "Happy birthday!"

"Wait, you know? Nobody's ever done something like this for me before.."
Nagito looked as he was getting ready to tear up.

"Well, i can be the first one then. Here you go!"
You plopped the small box in this hands. He delicately unwrapped it like he was unsure of how to even open it. You still sat there, patiently but excited to see his reaction.

"y/n, really? you want to give this to me? i'm so happy, thank you!"

It was the hopes peak ring. you knew instantly when you saw it that nagito would love it. I was perfect.

"Of course nagito! it's your birthday after all!"

You were happy for him, but you still had a lingering feeling of pity and dread. Nobody else was even in the restaurant to greet him. You told some students when you found out it was his birthday, but was surprised to see nobody. it hurt you. but nagito was happy, and that's what mattered.

You gave nagito a big smile, lightening the mood. All you wanted was for him to be happy.

Almost on cue, everyone else jumped in.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAGITO!!" you heard, overwhelming the room. Everyone had erupted in with cake, gifts, and food. it was great. you were just as surprised at nagito, who looked so shocked that he might've just fainted right there.

you both stuttered the same thing.
"w-what? you guys?" Happily of course. then, it all went great. everyone was giving nagito small or large wrapped boxes, alana had already eaten most of the cake, but he didn't seem to mind. they were having fun as well.

You couldn't stop smiling. It was so amazing to see your beloved this happy. Before you went into a daze just thinking about it, souda came up to you suddenly.

"Thanks for being our decoy, i owe ya!" he said with a thumbs up and a smile.

"decoy? what?"

"oh, we figured you'd rush up here first. akane even saw you rushing up here. we planned this all out. word spreads fast yknow."

"really? i can't believe it. i appreciate you guys doing that."

"well, it's his birthday after all.." kazuichi scratched the back of his neck, almost unsure. but you shrugged it off and continued to enjoy yourself.

It was such a great day for everyone...
