Elisha's mouth was a dragon's lair. How in this planets entire existence, can a giant, much less Perobia, know the location of the school. It has to be a trick. Please let it be a trick.
Perobia just says, laughingly. "Oh yes, your... ex-companion has a... um, shall we say, strong will. But we will break her down. And then, we shall march to your pathetic little school and it will crumble. While all you pathetic gods..."
Just then, Crios nudges her and she shuts up.
She smiles and prances off. Royoko looks after her with a strange considering look on her face.
Elisha smacked her and they flee into the forest. Elisha gives directions to the hideout of the first three titans they freed. Royoko supplies a model of the forest to show them the path. "So you take a left on that side and a right 30 meters later. Then a sharp 70 degrees left and straight for 700 meters. Next left and... you... are... there." As Royoko says these last four words, she finishes up the map. "Done!" She passes off the map and the two girls walk away to make a shelter for the night.
Soon, they find a moderately comfortable willow tree. Elisha circles it and finds a nice sized couple of divets in the roots. Royoko's cheeks are a fire in a diamond. She mutters something about not wishing to undress and redress in such constricting quarters. Elisha just tosses her head and starts to undress in sheer public. Royoko's cheeks are now fires in rubys. Elisha just chuckles and moves behind the long drapey shield of the willow branches and leaves. She changes and exits the shield. As Royoko enters the shield, she flicks her eyes around before entering. Elisha just chuckles and pulls out her fire horn. She undoes the smoke shield and re-starts the fire in the horn. Slowly, she pulls away the branches and sees Royoko fixing her own bed. Elisha shakes her head and comes in. As she placed down her own mat and supplies, she bespoke with Royoko about her fear of being watched.
"I'm just saying, if we're going to be in the wild, you're going to have to get over it. We can't hide you 100% of the time. It isn't always practical."
"It is of no concern about my habits or feelings. You ought to just let thee be thee and I be I. It's of no concern to you if I fall ill. I shall be alone."
Elisha huffed at her friend's insistence for privacy. "Honestly! TRY HARDER!!!"
Royoko raised her head with a look of pain embedded there. "Why are you so," she thought for a moment. "mean." she finally decided.
"I'm not! You're being unreasonable, unreasonably stupid about this."
Royoko flinched back like a wounded animal. "Is that so?"
"Sorry."
"S'okay. I guess."
As they settle in for a night's sleep, Royoko blinks at the stars. "Is Nyx an evil primordial?"
"Not as I know her. As I know her, she is a kind and giving girl with extreme coldness due to bad childhood memories."
"Oh."
As they fell asleep, it registered in Elisha's mind that Royoko's considering look might be the work of an evil kitsune, twisting her mind.
Once they got up that next morning, Royoko was snappish and kept snapping at Elisha each time she even glanced her way.
"Mind your own nector," Royoko said. "You are too invasive to me and my privacy. Honestly!"
All-day this went on, and every time Elisha opened her mouth to talk, Royoko would flick a hand over. Finally, Elisha decided to talk to her officially.
"Hey, could you maybe, teach me Karate?"
"Why." was her short and snappish answer.
"Well, we need to know how to defend ourselves."
"Mmmm. Well, I guess." She set down her pack and raised her hands. Then, she asked what time she was interested in.
"Know would be nice, I suppose."
"Okay."
And they started. Elisha was... not the best. She just didn't get it. She got some moves quickly. But others... Let's just leave it at that.
"Ugh," said Royoko. "No wonder you suck at Mazeball. You only ace blocks."
O.M.G. This is soooo hard. We ought to stop soon.
"Good idea," said Royoko.
Did I speak out loud? thought Elisha.
"So, you ready to... Yah know... Move on?"
"Not yet."
"I meant from this spot." Royoko plucked up an eyebrow.
"Oh..."
"Well..."
"Yep."
As they leave that spot, they make sure Royoko leaves an illusion so it looks like they were never there. But the look on her face is very strange. As if she was having a hard time making the illusion. Elisha pushed the thought aside. She just isn't used to making so many illusions. Yeah, that must be it. But a small part of her brain thought that maybe that wasn't the case. That maybe... No! it's not possible! She would never! Would she? Elisha had to admit it was possible. But then Royoko grabbed her hand and they marched off. Elisha once more brushed it off.
Soon they came to a river. They stopped and Elisha strriped to enter the water. Alyssa did so as well, but she dressed in her fire steeped bathing dress. As they washed, Elisha decided to ask Royoko what she thought of Perobia's warning.
"Was it just a taunt or something more?"
"It was a," Royoko looked about and lowered her voice. "A warning."
"A, a warning?"
"Oh, yes. She wanted to warn us. She most likely thought then we'd have to, well, repay her."
"Hmmm. That is a classic villon tactic."
Royoko looked around and nodded gently. "Yes. Should we take her up on her offer?"
"NO!!!"
"Mmm. Okay."
They bathed in silence after that. Royoko didn't speak for a while after that. Finally she spoke up. "We might die."
"And if we do we will not be evil."
"They aren't evil, they are misguided good."
"Mmmmm."
"Yeah. Think. They have a good reason. They're just takieing action wrong."
Royoko fell asleep but Elisha thinks about her friends strange behavior. In my books, whenever someone is acting strange, they are turning evil. But Royoko can't be evil. Can she? On this depressing thought, Elisha fell into a pitch black room of silence.
