-Brennon-

Brennon sat in the gatehouse of the airport, waiting for the connecting flight that was to take him to San Francisco. He'd been waiting for a while, though he didn't know what was taking so long. His flight was supposed to leave any minute now, but there didn't seem to be any sign that they were going to board any time soon. Brennon didn't mind the wait, though. What was waiting on the other side of his flight wasn't going anywhere. But he couldn't help but wonder what the hold up was.

He sat in the plastic, grey chair, looking out the window that was a few feet ahead of him. He couldn't see much from where he sat, they were on the second story of the airport, meaning that the ground was far below him. All he could see was the darkening sky and the few stars that had started to peek from beneath it.

Brennon wasn't really aware of the time that passed as he gazed up through the window that, at sometime or another, he had walked up to. He stood in front of it, looking for the moon amidst the grey sky that seemed to get darker and darker by the second. He let his mind drift away, thinking of where he was going and what was waiting for him there. The thought brought a smile to his lips, and he didn't do anything to stop it.

Suddenly, a voice pulled him out of his trance and he turned, listening as an announcement came over the intercom. His flight was delayed due to technical issues with the plane, and they wouldn't board until around 9:15 the next morning.

Brennon dreaded spending the next twelve hours in the airport, but it didn't bother him as much as it seemed to bother everyone else. He listened to the groans from the people around him, wondering if they were aware that complaining couldn't really help the situation. There were a lot of people who were supposed to be on the flight, which meant that a lot of people were forced to stay at the airport over night. Brennon kind of wished he had brought someone along just so he wouldn't have to be by himself for so long. But it wasn't that big of a deal. In twelve hours, he reminded himself, he would board the flight. And then in just a little over four more, he would finally be where he had been waiting to go for so long.

Brennon looked at his phone. The time read 8:23 pm. There were exactly twelve hours and seven minutes until their next flight, which gave Brennon plenty of time to work on school work and maybe read a little of the book he had brought along. He had plenty of sleep on the flight here and he knew that getting anymore sleep would be impossible.

He walked back to his seat where his black Adidas backpack sat and pulled a Macbook out, connecting it to the airport Wifi. He checked his email for any new assignments his college professors may have sent him. He was caught up on all of his work, though, and there wasn't anything knew that could keep him occupied. So he decided to read, instead.

Brennon closed his Macbook and put it back into his backpack. Then he reached into a smaller pocket and pulled out the brand new book he had just bought. The copy of the book was new, but the book itself was nearly as old as he was.

He sat in the hard, plastic chair and tried to read for a little while, but he could hardly concentrate due to all the noise around him.  After unsuccessfully trying to get past the first chapter, Brennon heard his stomach start to growl. He didn't have any food on him, but he remembered a small cafe' downstairs that seemed fine. And he figured that it would be a quiet place to get some reading done, too.

He walked downstairs and started towards the cafe',  standing in a line that didn't hold that many people. He didn't wait for too long before it was his turn to order. He ordered a black tea and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich, giving the cashier a ten dollar bill and letting them keep the change. After he had gotten his order, Brennon sat at a table with a chair on either side. He put his backpack down beside him and opened his book, continuing where he'd left off moments before.
