Today I haven't been out of the house. I spent hours and hours experimenting new recipes! And I'm quite satisfied with my try! My vegetable terrine is to die for! I took several photos to show off my creation! I get my computer to upload the photos to my blog. There are several comments on my last post. Most are funny, except for one which attracts my attention: "Careful not to fly too close to the sun..."I'm not really used to getting this kind of enigmatic message. The person who posted it is anonymous, of course... I just note his screen name: Persephone. If you please! I look through my other comments to check if this person has already posted something, but nothing... I decide to reply:
> What do you mean?
I take a while to go through all my messages before writing an article on my latest cooking utensils buys. I have to say New York is a real breeding ground of innovation!
As I finish, I decide to take Bobby out of its care and put it on my tummy whilst I settle down to read. It starts grooming as I get my book. I love romantic stories! E.L. James, Sylvia Day, K. Bromberg... All these authors have invaded my bookshelf! To be honest, I often relate to the main character, quivering at the same time as him. Which can be entertaining! In the book I'm reading at the moment, the main character is haunted by another of the opposite sex. Though they have nothing in common. I can't help but make a connection with Carter. What if he too, were haunting me? No, it's nothing of the sort... With him, it's just physical. A voice, a small... and also his sexy and intimidating CEO side... There are no real feelings! It's just a hot flush! My god! It's crazy! I can't even read a book without thinking about him! I decide to do something else! I switch the TV on and zap onto a silly reality TV program. A rich heir has to choose who he'd like to keep between two bimbos...Honestly? Does this sort of program still exist? What a horrible image it gives on love! I only hope that the younger generations aren't fooled. To tell the truth, I know exactly what's making me nervous. Our last exchange with Carter wasn't exactly friendly and I wonder what tomorrow morning has in store.
I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. Or at least, not the first few minutes. Before I even get to my office the secretary stops me.
Secretary > Mister Carter wishes to see you in his office. Straight away.
Her little devil eyes glisten. Bitch. In ancient Rome, she would have been the first to turn her thumb down! Not feeling very confident I make my way to the office marked with the letters "CEO". As I walk in, he's sat behind his huge rosewood desk, already looking very busy.
Mister Carter > Miss Langood. Take a seat.
I sit down in front of him being careful to cross my legs and place my hands upon my knees. He's finishing something on his computer. Then he shuts the screen down. Looks like it won't be short. He leans his elbows against the desk folding his fingers. He gently taps his forefingers against his chin. His penetrating grey eyes are staring at me.
Mister Carter > Are you fond of the work we do together, Miss Langood?
> Well... yes, the work is interesting.
Mister Carter > Hmm...
He pauses an instant, weighing the situation.
Mister Carter > So why did you leave the gala ball without my authorization?
Here we go...
> In what way did the gala ball have anything to do with my work here? If you needed somebody to escort you there why didn't you ask one of your supermodels!
What's gotten into me, speaking to him in this tone?! Have I lost it or what?! Carter seems surprised by the violence of my words. To tell the truth, I'm shocked as well.
