The dreaded day of the adoption started out like any other.
Hazel let us out of the sleeping room and we all followed her to the kitchen. I wondered if the other dogs knew they were going to be adopted today or if they still thought this was their forever home.
I guess it doesn't matter anymore...
In the kitchen Hazel ate her cereal in her worn out pajamas.
After a while she went back to her room and got dressed. She looked fancier and more formal than usual. The worst part was the wait.
Waiting for the doorbell to ring, not sure if it will ring.
I lied purposely close to the door. After what seemed like forever the doorbell rang.
All the dogs crowded around the door.
It was a woman with brown hair and blue eyes. Her blue were icy yet she seemed warm.
She talked to Hazel for a while and then came in.
I went and tried to be as cute and lovable as I could. She pet all the dogs and mumbled the occasional "Awww!".Shortly after, the chubby man came in. The brown haired woman was still there but I guess it didn't matter.
The brown haired woman adopted the street dog who had become the leader of our pack and the chubby man adopted a different street dog that was smaller than the others.
Then a middle aged man came in. He smelt like cologne and he seemed lonely.
He sat down next to all the dogs.
We started to surround him but he only seemed interested in one the street dogs. He ended up adopting her. After that an old woman came in. She had gray hair and even though she was old she looked like a formal business woman.
She came in and didn't even pet anybody before grabbing Goldie and I."Wait!" Hazel said just before the woman left "Let me say goodbye." I had never seen her that upset, she was usually always happy.
She bent down next to Goldie, tears threatening to spill out of her eyes. She pet him and whispered "Goodbye.".
Was I being adopted? Was Hazel going to be okay? Did I get to live with my friend again? Forever? Why did the woman just grab us? Is this a good thing?
