Chapter 21

Greg looks at me as we walk through the carnival searching for what to do next and says, "hmmmm how was the ride?"

I'm thinking of what to say to him as I look at him. Well I can't tell him I'm afraid because he'll make fun of me the whole night.

"Fine since you don't wanna answer we should leave."

He says immediately snapping me out of my thoughts. I node my head with a smile.

Greg says "before we leave I wanna show you something. After all our friendship is over so I might as well show you."

I stare at him flustered with what his saying. He grabs my arm and pulls me.

We walk though the crowd of people and after a while of walking through the crowd Greg suddenly stops pulling my arm.

Me and Greg are standing at the back place of the carnival. Their's a small wire fence that has a sign on top of it which says DONT TRESPASS.

As I'm starring at the fence Greg's trespassing and I shout "what are you doing? You're not supposed to be trespassing Greg!"

Greg jumps the fence while saying "Vanessa don't worry I come here everyday. Now come on."

I roll my eyes frustratedly and follow Greg then jump the fence. I'm over the wire fence.

I guess we must be on a hill because I can see the whole city from here. The tall building with glowing different lights shine from afar. Greg says while walking closer to the edge of the hill "this here is my favorite spot."

I follow while saying "it's awesome and how did you find this place?"

He sits at the edge while replying "well i love exploring and discovering new places in this huge city."

I sit next to Greg while saying "thanks for showing it to me."

He looks at me and smiles while saying "you and I are no longer friends so...."

"So what?"

He doesn't reply and says "never mind."

I'm regretting making that stupid childish bet with Barbie. I mean Greg's a really good person, he really want me to be his friend.

He says after a while of silence that filled the atmosphere "hmmm you're gonna let Barbie tell you what to do."

I inhale and exhale then say "Barbie is really controlling over you and I don't wanna get on her bad side."

He lets out a frustrated groan and says "I know she thinks everything belongs to her and she thinks I'm hers."

"I don't her to make me lose my scholarship to Harvard." I say sadly as the cold wind blows on my face.

He stands up and says "so this is about your scholarship to Harvard university."

I node my head while getting up then brushing off the dust on my jean. He says "I also want that scholarship to Harvard university."

"We both want that scholarship."

Greg says immediately interrupting me "we should work together and remember we made a deal. I'll let you know what a little fun is and you'll helps me pass my exams."

I'm contemplating whether I should agree to Greg's absurd plan or just agree to Barbie whose obsessed with Greg and won't leave me alone.

Greg looks at me with his eyes wide open trying to read my mind. I node my head and say "fine!" Loudly and clearly.

He holds both my shoulders with amusement.

"But your girlfriend must not know about you and I."

He smiles softly and says "that will be easy friend." He says the word friend slowly and clearly.

I smile and say "yeah friend."

I guess we're back together, me and Greg our crazy friendship.

Greg says while starring at me "this place is secretive between you and me."
He winks at me while saying all that and I'm getting red.

I roll my eyes trying so hard not to make him notice my red cheeks. Suddenly, we hear a scream from behind "hey what are you doing here!"

I turn around to see whose shouting and see a guard. How can I forget that we just trespassed private property and now we've been caught.

Greg quickly grabs my arm and pulls me towards the fence.

He lifts my body up and throws me over the fence then he quickly jumps over the fence while the guard is running after us all along.

Greg shouts quickly "Vanessa run!"

We suddenly start running out of that place and the guard running after us. I'm running so fast not looking where I'm going or what I'm seeing, all I feel is the cold wind hit my face.

We luckily get lost in crowd of people, after a while of running I stop running and gasp for air but realize I can't see Greg anywhere. I'm shouting aloud "Greg!" While looking through the crowd for him.

Suddenly, a cold hand touches my arm and pulls me. It's Greg and he looks worried. He pulls me and we began to run to the exit gate.
We run out of the carnival and to the car then we stop.

Immediately, we stop running both me and Greg gasp for air. We're inhaling and exhaling loudly and deeply.

Greg says while breathing through the words "we lost the guard."

I'm so tired and exhorted, I sit on the ground and out of the blue I began to laugh out loud and Greg joins me. Me and Greg laughing so loudly at whatever just happened to us.

He says after a while of laughing "we should go home."

I node my head and get then brush the dirt off my jean.

We get into the car and Greg drives off..
