As I sit in the waiting area, I begin to think of how exactly I managed to get this job.

Before my cousin died she was engaged to this guy, he's like this giant puppy you can't help but love. His name is Zack and he works in Shinra's SOLDIER division, like a private army, separate from the public security forces.

Ever since we were introduced we've been the best of friends, like brothers almost. He had written me a recommendation letter so I could land a solid job here. He didn't want me getting involved with the dangerous stuff he does, so he let me choose any department that wasn't his. I sent in the letter he gave me along with my resume, hoping to get the job.

Money is tight right now and I wouldn't have had enough money to pay rent if I hadn't gotten hired. If my new boss likes me and doesn't turn me away due to inadequacy, by the time my paycheck comes I won't need to worry about my unpaid bills.

Failing to realize that ten minutes came and went, I looked up to see a redhead and a bald man standing in front of me. Standing up and letting my eyes inspect their figures I see they aren't half-bad. Both are very handsome and they look good in the black suits.

The redhead is a young, spunky looking man, with goggles resting on his forehead. His dress shirt is open, showing his chest and sporting fingerless gloves.

The bald man has a darker skin tone, wearing sunglasses, we're indoors might I add, which is a bit odd but suits him nonetheless. His chin sporting a well-maintained goatee, trailing to the end of his jawline and a series of earrings adorning ears. Unlike the redhead, he is dressed accordingly.

"You're the newbie right?" The redhead asks, looking rather annoyed, I guess he doesn't really want to escort me to where I'm supposed to be.

"Y-yes. I'm to be working under the Director of the Advanced Weaponry Division." Stuttering through the beginning of my sentence, I still try my best to remain composed

"Yeah yeah, we know. Just follow us, alright?" The redhead turns around, making his way towards the stairs leading to the second and third floors. The bald man just tilts his head in a way that tells me to just follow along.

I nod and follow the men, falling in step beside the bald one. Gosh, I really want to know their names instead of calling them by what's atop their head. We make our way up the stairs, with the redhead not that far from us.

"Don't mind his attitude, he just doesn't like working so early in the morning." My eyes shoot over to him, not expecting him to start a conversation, he seems like the type not to talk unless spoken to first.

"It's quite alright, I wouldn't expect someone to be excited for work this early in the morning."

He just lets out a soft chuckle before becoming quiet once again, so I decide to keep the momentum going.

"So, what's your name? It was rude of me not to have asked earlier."

"Rude."

'His name is... Rude? That's an... odd name.'

I figure I could ask about the other guy as well.

"What about him? What's his name?" I ask, gesturing to the redhead.

"Reno."

'That's less of an odd name but I guess it suits him.'

We stopped a few feet behind Reno, who stood waiting in front of the elevator, having already called it down. A bit of an awkward atmosphere surrounds us as we wait silently for the elevator to arrive.

Reno lets his head fall back, head facing the ceiling, and lets out a groan. I just wait silently, mostly just staring at my shoes. A soft ding announces the elevator's arrival and we step in.

"You're gonna be working under Scarlet, right? I gotta say that's gonna be tough, she ain't one bit nice, so what I guess I'm trying to say is good luck." Reno speaks to me after some minutes pass.

"Um, thank you, for the heads up." I nod my head in thanks while going over what he said.

'Scarlet's the name of my new boss, eh?'

I guess I should try to calm my nerves, I don't think she'd want a stuttering mess as her new secretary.

We finally arrive at the floor where my new boss, Scarlet, awaits. We walk out into a hallway full of elevators, Reno once again takes the lead but with Rude at his side. I follow them, making sure to stay at least a few feet behind. We exit the elevator hall, and enter a large spaced area, to my right lie stairs and escalators, leading to the floors above and below us.

We enter a pair of large double doors, the dark carpet muffling our footsteps compared to the tile outside. We pass some rooms with large windows replacing the wall, displaying the interior. So far they merely look like meeting rooms, where the workers of this department come together to plan and design new weapons. It doesn't look anything like a manufacturing floor, perhaps I'll see it at a later time.

In my hometown I used to work at a factory that made weapons. It was always messy with pieces of scrap metal all over the place. That was the main reason I chose to send my application to this department, I felt with my knowledge of weapon making I could at least help in giving my input about things. When I received the call about being hired here, a secretary position was at the bottom of my list of expectations.

Zack even asked if I faked my resume to get such a high up position. After all, it took him some years to be one of the top SOLDIERs in his department. He told me that since he's so high up now, he mainly sits at a desk doing paperwork unless he's called in for a job that requires the need of an experienced SOLDIER.

After making a few turns into different hallways we get to a long corridor, at the end of the hall I can see a lovely pair of double doors. A Security Officer is standing guard, when he sees the two in front of me he knocks on the door and says the Turks are here.

Are these two men Turks? I heard from most of the public that they seek out potential recruits for SOLDIER, but others have said they protect the company's secrets and gather intel.

I guess whoever is behind the doors gave the 'OK' to let us in because the guard opens the door for us. From the space between Reno and Rude I can see a woman in red sitting at the pretty large desk in the middle of the room.

On the wall I can see a mounted red Minigun and RPG. The woman, who is likely Scarlet, tells the two men who escorted me here to leave. Reno gives me an almost unnoticeable look of pity as he turns and leaves.

The door closes behind me and I'm now left alone with this woman.
