"Hey Will... can I talk to you. Its kind of serious?" JJ said approaching her husband, the man she was about to leave for months.
"Um yeah sure okay." He sounded unsure.
"Well okay, Hotch asked me and Emily to be on an assignment and I'll have to leave for a little bit and I-"
"Leave where?"
"Pardon?"
"Where are you going?"
"Will, I'm sorry but I can't say no to an assignment, I'm going to Russia, most likely for a few months."
"Okay." Was all he said.
"What? Okay? That's it?" JJ was confused. Why wasn't he yelling or at least mad, he didn't even seem sad.
"Yeah. Go do you're job, it's fine." He said.
"Oh. Well thanks for being so mature about this Will, I love you." JJ smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Now that the worst was out of the way, she could actually focus on what she needed. She decided two large suitcases would be okay, and whatever she couldnt pack she could purchase in Russia. All her hygeine products, alot of clothes, and her makeup were the first things shes brought. She spotted a small frame with a picture of Will and herself and grabbed that too.
Meanwhile, Emily was at home, sitting on the edge of her bed. Basically staring at nothing. She remembered the last time she was in Russia, it was with Doyle. Her informants and contacts were likely still in Russia. Realizing that Doyle was dead and that meant no danger in asking them if they knew anything about this so-called group. That was something she'd consult everyone else about though. Emily was fluent in Russian, something she was sure would be proven valuable on this case. She wondered if thats why she was chosen for this assignment, her skills in language were one of the first things the BAU learned about her. Her work in Russia wasn't discovered till later but it was probably still a factor in the choice. Why was JJ chosen? She had a husband, a life, she wasn't independent on solely herself. Why not choose someone like Morgan? Either way, Emily was happy she had JJ on this case, it'll make it much more bearable she thought.
The next morning came quick, well for Emily, JJ hadn't slept a wink. She was worried about Will, she knew he must've been upset about her leaving, but if he was he wasn't showing it. Maybe he was finally coming to terms with the demands of the job, maybe he just didn't care anymore. Either way, JJ understood. She made a mental note to call him at least once a day while she was gone, maybe this time away could rekindle their relationship. Besides that, she was worried about this case, the closest thing to it that she had done was her back stop, and that had been awful. Once the clock hit 7am, she grabbed her suitcases and headed downstairs to make coffee. She decided to text Emily, just to see how she was feeling about all of this. Maybe shed find some comfort.
Hey, you ready for today? I'm bringing boggle for the long jet ride haha
She put her phone down and began making the coffee. It had just finished pouring when her phone notified her that Emily had responded.
Not sure if I'm ready, but I'm looking forward to spending the day chilling on the jet, its like our last hangout before our months long case
That was true, they always enjoyed their jet rides. Alot of people don't enjoy the actual travelling part of travelling, but the Bau's jet was better than any first class plane so the two had a possibly fun and relaxing day aheah of them. That put JJ's mind at ease a bit, at least for the time being.
Thats true, how long is the plane ride anyway? I've never been to russia, I'm pretty excited to see it to be honest with you.
Emily replied almost immediately.
