a/n: I've been working on this book since March and been planning it even longer, heres the first chapter of To Hook a Star! Read my other Jemily fics if you havent❤

"JJ are you kidding me. You just left without saying goodbye." Will said.

"I'm sorry Will but I would've said goodbye if I had time. You know my job is demanding. When I get called in on a case I'm expected to-"

"Not even a call or a text or fucking email for gods sakes!"

"Will..." JJ sounded hurt. Her and Will had been fighting over how demanding her Job was. He claimed she didn't care about him, she told him she did, but she also cared about the people she saved. Tears welded up in her eyes. "I- Im sorry. I was in a rush and I didn't have a moment to myself until I called you at the hotel."

"Jennifer we are in a commited relationship and we live together. You have to tell me if you won't be home at night." He said a little softer.

"I know." She nodded and clenched her fist to hold back tears. Will had never once yelled at her and she didn't take yelling well. Her father was extremely strict and he was a military man so she grew up with enough yelling for one lifetime. "I will text or call you next time Will, I promise." She said.

"Okay.. Look I'm sorry I shouldn't of yelled." He said reaching for her hand which she pulled away quickly.

"You're right. You shouldn't have but its okay I understand." She said and stood up, grabbing her bag. "I just remembered I have plans with Emily sorry. I'll see you later?" Except she didn't have plans with Emily, but now she needed to see her. Will suspected her lie but he wasn't the type to call her out. Especially because he yelled at her.

"Oh okay, see you tonight Jen." He said. Without another word, JJ left. Once in the car she allowed the tears she had been holding in to fall. She wasn't crying really, it was just silent tears. After she wiped them away she took a look in her mirror. Great. She thought to herself. Emily will know I've been crying. She almost considered going back inside but it occured to her that she'd rather Emily know she'd been crying rather than Will. Will would treat her like she was playing the victim. Emily would treat her like a friend.

She called Emily on the way over and the brunette was happy to have JJ come over. She immediatly heard the pain in JJ's voice but decided against saying anything.

"Hi." JJ said when Emily opened the door.

"Hey... you okay?" Emily said hugging the blonde.

"I need alcohol before I answer that." JJ said walking into the apartment.

"Yes ma'am." Emily giggled. She walked to the cuboard and pulled out a bottle of Wine and a bottle of Vodka. "Trashy or classy?" was all she asked JJ.

"Trashy." JJ smiled nodding towards the vodka bottle. This was Emily's way of asking "how bad is the issue?" and she did it everytime JJ was upset. Wine usually meant a first date hadn't gone well (in JJ's dating days) and Vodka meant a break up or something more serious. So when JJ chose vodka it had Emily wanting to know more.

"Mmm my favourite." She laughed and brought the bottle along with a carton of orange juice to the couch.

"That is such a high school thing to do." JJ laughed as she looked at the orange juice.

"I like the nostalgia." Emily laughed and opened the bottle of vodka, taking a swig, and then passing it to JJ before talking a gulp of orange juice. JJ took a swig of the strong-tasting liquid and made a face.

"Give me that." JJ said taking the orange juice.

"Thats such a high school thing to do." Emily said mocking JJ who just made a "haha" face. "So anyway, whats wrong. You seemed upset over the phone and I can tell you've been crying."
