society and you

You stand in front of the mirror
frowning at your own reflection
Society tells you every day
points out your insecurities
you are trying to hide.

You look at your hair
'You should wear your hair loose'
'Why do you have ponytail everyday?'
'Boys don't like short hair'
You are in tears now.

Your eyes stop at your stomach
'You should loose some weight'
'No one likes fat girls'
'If you would be skinnier, guys would want you'
You decide to stop eating, wanting to be skinny.

You look at your own face.
'Ew, acne is so horrible'
'Why does she wears so much makeup? It looks awful'
'She's not even that pretty'
Mascara tears are running down your face.

You started to destroy yourself because of society.
It's time to put yourself together.
Society has no right to tell you how to look.
