Medeira Eyes
"She? A woman?"
——"Danchou, I think you would want to look at this," Shalnark said, relaxing into his seat in front of an open computer.
Chrollo glanced up from the most recent book he stole.
The Phantom Troupe, or more commonly known as the Spider, were currently hanging out in the mansion of a random gang. They caught wind of a peculiar information about one of the Seven Most Beautiful Colors in the world that are in high demand in the black market, aside from the Scarlet Eyes that they have acquired through meticulous means about a year ago.
The Leader of the infamous group of bandits walked towards Shalnark, the soles of his shoes sinking into the blood stained cashmere carpet that adorns the expensive mahogany floor. He passed by the corpse of the gang leader, carefully shifting his steps so as to not step on whatever remains of the mutilated body.
The Spiders wanted intel about the Medeira Eyes. The gang was previously claiming on having information about it and was willing to sell it to the highest bidder. But being the group of thieves the Phantom Troupe are, stealing information is mere child's play.
However the gang leader was a bit stubborn and so Chrollo found it appropriate to have him sample some terrifying persuasion from the Indoor Fish. Sadly, he kept mum about it until the very end. They had to resort to other means – hacking into the gang's information network. It took some time but Chrollo was able to entertain himself while waiting. The gang had a good taste in books and a rich variety of auction goods.
His metallic gray eyes landed at the computer's monitor, it's screen flashing a couple of unpublished articles about the Medeira Eyes.
"Medeira Eyes," Shalnark read. "One of the Seven Most Beautiful Colors in the world along with the famous Scarlet Eyes. According to the source, the eyes are difficult to acquire as they belong to a reclusive clan of nomad assassins. "
Chrollo nodded. "We already know that. That is exactly the reason why we chose to target the Kurta Clan first for their Scarlet Eyes."
"Yes," Shalnark responded and clicked on a few icons in the screen, displaying more articles. "Medeira Eyes are also called Moon Stones because the eyes actually glow when exposed to moonlight. It is said that the sea green hues of the eyes are highlighted with gold specks which exhibit a spectral radiance. Only one pair of these eyes were auctioned in the black market even before we had acquired the Scarlet Eyes."
"Subsequently, during the auctioning of the lone pair, all of the auctioneers and bidders attending were assassinated by an unknown perpetrator. The Medeira eyes were lost. It's safe to say that the assassin clan got it back. The murder of the auctioneers was probably a warning too. Since then, there is no sighting of the nomad assassin clan."
"Is there any other information regarding the Medeira Eyes?" Chrollo asked.
Shalnark nodded with a smile. "It seems that the gang's claims are legit. There is a sighting of someone possessing Medeira Eyes. It says here that she frequents the biggest shopping district in the Republic of Manille."
The Leader's eyebrows raised in fascination. "She? A woman?"
"A young lady to be exact. She seems to be near my age. There isn't a name mentioned here though. Although she's being pretty reckless if a gang as small as this one was able to track her."
With a click, a photocopied sketch of a young woman appeared in the screen. Her eyes were colored a haunting sea green, one of it shadowed by a fringe with strands of forest green highlights.
Chrollo committed the features to his memory. "Can you make copies of that image?"
"Certainly."
"Good. I will inform Nobunaga, Machi, and Omokage. We're going after the girl."
Shalnark had a quizzical look in his face. "Why Omokage?"
"I might find some use for his abilities since Pakunoda won't be able to join us for a while."
Shalnark nodded and proceeded to print the picture. "Do you have a plan in mind, Danchou?"
Chrollo looked at him sideways. "Perhaps."
