The Long Way Home

My phones buzzes waking me from a restless sleep. Calum had been on my mind all night. He and I had quickly swapped numbers before he and Luke had to run to a writing session. I sit on my bed and stare at his contact, he had added himself as DJ Hood, and set a cute duck face selfie as his profile. I check the text and its a girl from school named Lindsey, "what are you doing today????" Lindsey was new and fit in perfectly with Elizabeth and my outcast vibes. I roll over and nudge a sleeping Elizabeth, "pssssst" I whisper, "whatttttt" she groans. "What are we doing today? Lindsey wants to hang out I think" she sits up rubbing her eyes, grabs her phone then squeals. "He texted me!"she giggles kicking off the large fluffy blanket, "and....." I give her a questioning look, raising an eyebrow. Elizabeth says nothing, she just grins and runs into the bathroom to shower. I walk downstairs and make myself a boll of strawberries, blueberries, and cherries. I text Lindsey and tell her I didn't know what I was doing yet but I'd keep her informed, I then eat and scroll through Twitter. Once I hear the hair dryer turn on and my breakfast is finished I walk upstairs and sit on the sink looking questioningly at Elizabeth. She only gives me a goofy grin in return. I turn on The 1975's album and curl my hair, she dances out of the room and by the time my make up is done (a nude matte eye with thin black liner and light pink lips), I see she has laid out clothes for me with a note reading 'put these on and meet me down stairs ASAP'. I see my light high waisted Levi's jean shorts with studded pockets and my faded Rolling Stones tee, next to them are a pair of sheer tights that have small black polka dots and my docs. I get dress quickly adding only my black tattoo choker with the small moon pendant dangling from the center and tucking in the shirt. I walk to the front door to see Luke, Ashton, and Calum,my heart races at the sight of him. "We're going to the aquarium today," Luke announces smiling, I can tell it was his idea. We all pile into Ashton's car and Elizabeth has to sit on Luke's lap given there are not enough seats. The American Idiot album starts playing and I drum my fingers along on my knees. I can feel Calum looking at me and a I smile, taking a leap of faith I quickly grab his hand. I blush, realizing what I've done, and he must see because he squeezes my hand slightly; his hand are large and tan completely opposite to my small pale ones.

We pull up to the aquarium and all get out, once we are next to each other he takes my hands again and I squeeze his fingers slightly to tell him it's ok with me that he has it. Once everyone is paid for we all start to wonder a bit but Calum stays with me the whole time. He chuckles when I get too excited and drop his hand quickly to go look at the fish. We don't talk about important things but we chatter about music and movies and his band and my YouTube. Calum is completely fascinated by Luna and Liz and vows he will watch some videos later, and though our conversations and actions are innocent I am content . The day is perfect and on the ride back we all laugh and Calum holds my hand the whole time, I notice we take the long way home. At the door Luke fully kisses Elizabeth on the mouth, Calum however innocently kisses my check smiling and blushing as he pulls away.
