Trigger Warning: Violence and Homophobic Slurs
Luca felt something was off as soon as he stepped across the threshold of Crenshaw High. He could feel everyone's eyes on him as he walked through the hallways, the same hallways he had walked through for the past four years. He was used to being stared at, but this time it was different. This time it wasn't out of fear or admiration, there was something different in their eyes today. He tried his best to ignore it for the first half of the day, but found it growingly hard to do so; everywhere he went he felt this constant indelible sensation of being watched.
"Hey. Whats up." Luca said normally as he approached Hannah and Claire at their usual lunch table in the cafeteria. Both girls silently exchanged a strange look before glancing back up at Luca with weary expressions on their faces.
"Hey..." Hannah said softly, though Luca could tell there was something she wasn't telling him. Out of the corner of his eye, Luca saw a freshman boy staring at him with a smug smirk on his punchable face.
"The fuck you looking at, asswhipe." Luca spat threateningly as the smirk fell clear off the boy's face and he ran away practically dropping his lunch tray. "The hell was that about?" Luca blinked confusedly as he turned back to Hannah and Claire.
"You... You don't know, do you?" Claire asked wearily are she turned to Hannah for support. Hannah just sighed, unlocking her phone and tapping a few times, before turning the screen towards Luca.
Luca felt his heart stop for a split second as he looked at the facebook post on Hannah's screen, it was off of the "Spartans Burn Book" gossip page. It was stupid really, just a few idiotic underclassmen posting rumors and random shit about people. The school had tried to take it down a few times, but these sorts of things have a way of resurfacing just when you think they're gone, not unlike herpes breakouts.
The photo is what first caught Luca's eye. It was of Aidan and Luca, and he knew exactly when it was taken. He was wearing a mustard yellow sweater and black skinny jeans, he was caressing Aidan's cheek as Aidan's arm was tightly snaked around his waist, pulling him up for a kiss. In the background there were movie posters and a movie theatre snack bar. It was the night of their first official real date, and something told him that he knew exactly who took the picture.
There was another picture of Luca platonically grinding on Endri at a party that also looked incredibly incriminating if taken out of context. And it very much so was taken out of context. There was a caption under the pictures saying that Luca was a slut and a traitor, basically fucking his way through the Hilldale football team and helping them pull pranks on Crenshaw. It also said that he seduced Aidan and manipulated him into purposefully losing the last game against Crenshaw.
"This is bullshit, what the hell?!" Luca exclaimed as both girls glanced at him blankly.
"Is it true...?" Claire asked seriously, earning her a glare from Hannah. "What?! The pictures look really bad Luca..." Just as Luca was about to answer them he looked up to see an entire mob of boys approaching him. From the pits of his stomach he could tell that everything was about to go very, very wrong.
"Hey there, traitor." Colton said menacingly, folding his arms over his chest with a very smug look plastered across his face. Luca was beginning to wonder if that was just how his face looked naturally.
"What the fuck is all this?" Luca cocked an eyebrow at him, holding the phone up with his pictures on display.
"I told you, Greco... You'd regret it... Well here you are, regretting it." Colton said condescendingly as an evil smirk crept on his already punchable face.
