Julia and some of her classmates are at the buffet table taking turns to pose for pictures. The buffet table is magnificent in its decor. The theme suited for the Prom night. Food and drinks are abundant and displayed beautifully and artistically. The chocolate fountain was a big hit with everybody.
Liam snake his arm around Julia's waist when he reached them. "You didn't say your family is catering the affair," Liam said.
"My mom was secretive about it. She doesn't want to spoil the fun for me, who would be happy to have her mother around during prom night," she replied. And Liam hastily takes his arm from her.
The program went on smoothly and the event was highlighted with the announcement of Prom king and queen. Julia's group huddled at the corner table where they watched Liam's ex being pronounced Prom queen and David as Prom king. They cheered for both of them.
"Where's Liam," Julia asked as she looked around for him.
"Probably getting more drinks," Shasha said.
"I'll go help him," Julia stood up and went to check on Liam at the buffet table for he has adored the chocolate pies they were serving but he wasn't there so she went out to where they park the delivery truck. Their staff have set up a tent there for the preparation of the drinks to be served.
She didn't see him there so she went to get back in through the side entrance of the social hall when she saw him at the campus pergola located across from her.
"Hey, what's up. I thought you were getting more pies and drinks for our table." Julia said as she stood next to him. He didn't say or move to acknowledge her so she felt a little uneasy by his sudden indifference to her.
When she was about to go, he put his arm around her waist and pulled her closer. She sensed that something is bothering him so she didn't say anything but snuggled closer to him. It felt good to have his arm around her or maybe she's getting used to having his arm around her.
"I got a call from dad's office just now, they have to rush him to the hospital he was unconscious. His blood pressure was way too high. I called my mom and she just told me that if I want to go there she would let me. I don't know how I feel about him. Can you understand that?" Liam asked her.
"I used to talk to him every month but then he got busy so it became less and less. Now I only talk to him during Christmas," Liam sighed. "Maybe that's the only time he would remember that he had a family he left here," Liam said quietly.
Julia turned to face him she couldn't see his face clearly for they have only the moonlight to shine on them but she can see his sorrow in his voice and in his eyes. She wound her arms around his neck and hugged him to her. She wanted to comfort him to ease away his pain. She understood exactly how he felt about his father. She knew that deep down he still loves him but the years of neglect and abandonment brought on the hate he felt for him.
Liam tightened his hold on her. He pressed her body close to him as if holding her tightly to him would ease the pain. He buried his face in his hair. She raised her face to him to tell him that it would be fine to cry if he wanted to but Liam misread her intention and lowered his face to cover her mouth with his lips. Julia was surprised so she moved her lips away from him but Liam chose that moment to pull her lips with his mouth and suck on it. Her knees have turned to jelly and she struggled to keep her balance. Liam kept her hold on her as he plunged deeper into her mouth. Weakly she surrendered and welcomed his assault on her senses. His hands are roaming all over her body as she too caressed his back and buried her hand in his hair.
"I want to be away from here somewhere quite. Do you think your mom would let you?" Liam asked after they have regained their breathing.
