Chapter 31

Zach's POV

"But this is my home" I said as I realized what I had said no to yesterday when Aaron asked me to stay. How could I even turn him down when I know that here, is where I want to be. Not with my mom, where I have nothing but her, and I would choose Aaron anytime, even over my mom. "I'm sorry aunt Gen, I know you promised her, but I have to stay. I'll call her and tell her that I'm staying. Don't worry"

"Aaron honey, stop playing and come, I'll drive you downtown so you can find a cab."

"Mom, what about the promise you made me? Does that not matter at all? You're choosing your own sister instead of me, your son?" Bailey cut in.

"Look honey, I'm doing this for his own sake. Trust me, if he doesn't go back and finish the two months he has to stay there, his mom will make his life a living hell, trust me I know, I've lived with her my entire childhood. Now come on."

She was right. I knew my mom. I had just hoped that maybe she wouldn't since I'm her son, but now that her sister told me she would, I believe her. "I really don't want to go" I said when I had turned towards Aaron. I grabbed his hands and placed them on my heart. "Please Aaron, I love you. But I have to go"

"Zach baby, don't worry about it. I'm not gonna get mad if you leave, quite the opposite actually, I'll get mad if you don't"

I looked at him puzzled. I thought he wanted me to stay?

"Look, if you don't go, it'll be my fault that you're not happy. Your mom will probably never talk to you, and go against everything you like and want, and I can't be responsible for that, cause I want you to be happy, I want you to get what you want. Babe, I love you, but you gotta go" he smiled gently and pecked my lips. Adrian was on his way down and handed me my backpack.

"Here.." He smiled sadly. I hugged him and pecked his cheek.

"Thanks." I put it over my shoulder and took a step back to look at my other family. "I can't say goodbye again," I said as I felt my eyes well up with tears. Aaron came towards me and hugged me tightly.

"I love you!" He whispered in my ear. He kissed my ear several times and began pecking my lips too.

"I love you too." I stepped back and waved goodbye to everyone.

Aunt Gen let me out to her car an began driving me to the town. It was a pretty quiet trip there. I didn't have much to say to her an obviously she didn't either. In the car I came to realize that I was leaving him again. This time though, it wasn't 6 months it was luckily only 2. I also thought about facing my mom. I would be late. I won't arrive until late in the morning. I had already texted her, saying I was on my way. Unfortunately, she didn't sound too happy when she replied.

Good. We'll talk when you get back.

She had replied. I was terrified. I mean, my mom could never hurt me, but she was a tough one. She would take away everything I care about, without mercy. She can do anything she wants.

We arrived and we both got out. I swung my bag over my shoulder and hugged my aunt. Even though I wasn't happy for what she was doing, I knew it was the right thing to do. She was just looking out for me, and I was nothing but grateful for that.

"I'm sorry for doing this, but I'm doing it for your own good, you know that right?" She more of stated than asked. I nodded and hummed yes. She pecked my forehead and got into her car once again. She waved and drove off.

I looked around for a cap and waved one over when I saw one. He pulled over and I got in the passenger seat.

"Where to?"
