Chapter 26
Zach's POV
It was yet again morning, and I had just said goodbye to my mom. Currently I was in a cap on my way home. I had been in that for hours, and there were hours left before I would arrive. The (hot) cap driver was very nice and we talked normally while he drove. He looked around 20 and had a not fully grown stub, green eyes, light brown skin and almost the same color hair as his skin. He had a small stretch earring, and his hair was sat up in a quiff. We were talking about random stuff, trying to make the trip as non-awkward as possible.
"Why are you even a cap driver? You don't look like a typical cap driver?" I asked knowing how stupid that sounded.
"I'm saving up." He said smiling, showing off his Colgate smile.
"Really? For what?"
"A ring. For my girlfriend" he smiled, probably thinking about her now.
"That's funny, cause I actually already have one-" I dug a ring up from my pants pocket. It was inside a little black/gold box. I opened the box and held it up to show him. He glanced a few times, still keeping an eye on the road.
"That's really cool, dude. She's a lucky one, I can tell"
"No, I am the lucky one" I said smiling down to myself. "It's just a promise ring though, not gonna propose at this age. He's a year younger than me, which makes him too young. I actually think it's illegal." I chuckled, rubbing my jaw, whereafter I packed the promise ring back inside.
"Oh. It's a he-" he asked. I froze. Did I really say 'he'? Was that wrong? Are we still a secret, and if no, then it wouldn't matter, I'd probably never see this guy again, right? But what if he throws me out of this cap? "-cute" he smiled genuinely. I sighed with relief, feeling a lot better. He chuckled at my sudden sigh. "Haha! Did you think I'd kill you or something? Relax, my brothers is gay too. And my cousin is a lesbian. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with it" he smiled again, actually he never stopped smiling. It looked good on him so who am I to try and stop it?
We finally arrived, and I was getting really nervous, I got out of the cap, waved goodbye to the driver, whose name, I learned was Jacob. I actually got his number as well. But I don't think I'll see him ever again...
Anyway I knocked on Dylan's door and when he saw me, he jumped at me hugging me with both arms and legs.
"Duuuhude! I've missed you so fucking much! Fucking jackass! Who are you to leave without a proper goodbye!" He yelled, smiling widely like a hyena, hugging me tightly with his legs around my waist, like a five year old.
"I'm sorry man, but my mom- ya know?"
"Whatever. So, as you can see I haven't had time to do much, so it's just about getting started. You ready?" He asked and I nodded. We quickly grabbed the supplies he had bought and began setting everything up.
Aaron's POV
The arrival at the party.
A single tear rolled down my cheek as my mouth widened in a wide grin.
"Zach?" I looked straight at Zach in front of me, not believing my eyes. He was here. He nodded smiling, while biting his upper lip with his lower one. I walked towards him, at first slowly, as if he would disappear if I walked too fast. But I ended up walking faster since, I didn't have the patience to wait anymore. I ran to him and embraced him in a squeezed hug. My hands formed a fist behind his back as it clung to his shirt.
"Zach?" I heard Adrian gasp behind me and Jacey just as surprised. I didn't really pay much attention as to what was going on behind me, the only thing that was on my mind, was Zach.
"I've missed you, you know that?" He mumbled against my shoulder.
"I've missed you too" I replied. We pulled back for a brief second to look at each other. The first thing I noticed was his light blue eyes. We leaned forward and kissed each other on the lips. He tilted his head slightly to the right to get more access.
"Uhh ahem" Dylan fake-coughed as the rest adjusted uncomfortably, when our kiss deepened. I could see their eyes boring into the ground to avoid eye contact. I couldn't help but chuckle as both Zach and I released each other, still holding hands. Adrian, Bailey and Jacey came to hug Zach and he hugged back with a smile on his face.
"I've missed you, cousin" Bailey smiled hugging him. He moved along so that Adrian could get through.
"You could've told me" Adrian smiled resting his hands on Zach's shoulders, looking straight into his eyes.
"It was a surprise for you too" Zach smiled.
"Oh where's my kiss then?" Adrian joked.
"He gave it to me, you want it?" Dylan joked making kissing noises. Adrian faked a gag and chuckled together with Dylan and Jacey. After having talked for a couple of minutes Dylan motioned for Jacey, Bailey and Adrian to go with him, and they went upstairs while Zach led me through the living room and in front of a small door. There were two small candles in front of the doors. Suddenly I recognized the door. He opened it and led me further in, with an assuring smile. It was empty which had me wonder if it really was what I thought it was. There were candles almost everywhere and the red walls really sat an effect on the room. As Zach stood in front of me I became sure that this was, as a matter of fact, the closet where we shared our first kiss.
"This is so amazing, Zach. You didn't have to-"
"Shhh. Aaron. I- I led you in here for a reason. This was the place where we first met, where we were unsure of where things would go from here. The place that made us realize that there's nothing to be afraid of. Or at least it was for me. I knew I liked you back then, but I was afraid you didn't have mutual feelings, hence the fact I hid it for you. I now know that we two belong with each other, forever. Aaron I can't describe how much I love you, we are made for each other. I wanna spend the rest of my life with you. So therefore-" he knelt down on one knee making heart speed up.
No, no, no! This wasn't actually happening. Was it? Am I dreaming. This is so surreal! I swear I think I'm gonna pass out.
He pulled out a box, black with gold around the edges. The box alone was beautiful. Then he opened it.
"Wait Zach, I-"
"Don't worry, I'm not proposing, but it's a promise ring. Aaron, I promise that one day, we'll be husbands and we will live happily ever after, no matter how stupid it sounds. We belong with each other and so we will be together, well that is, if you say yes. So Aaron, will you, one day, hopefully get married with me?" He looked up at me with curiosity and anxiety.
"I... Of course. Yes, yes of course!" I smiled helping him up. He grabbed my hand and took the ring out of the box and carefully placed it on my ring finger. It fitted perfectly. He took the second ring from the box and I took it from him and paled it on his ring finger. I looked up at him and smiled. He leaned in and placed his soft lips on mine.
