I can't help but to feel guilty. Guilty for being with Ellis, begging to watch the amulet, Guilty for bringing Noah with me, and Guilty for thinking I could handle the responsibilities of being a Queen. I can't be a Queen, I'll lead the village into total oblivion. I feel Noah get close to me and embrace me into a hug, I didn't realize I started crying.
"I'm sorry" I whisper. "I'm so sorry" I hug him back sobbing. "I'm sorry I'm selfish, I'm sorry I'm self-centered, I'm sorry I brought you along, I'm sorry for it all" I cry. He continues to rub his palm on my back and honestly, even though we are about to drown in an 8 feet hole, there's no place I'd rather be right now than under Noah's arms.
"you're good," he tells me. "You're better" he smiles and wipes the tears from my face. "We're gonna get out of this"
Silence for a few minutes
"It all is crystal clear now" I sniffle, the hole is still filling up, and I have no tears left to cry. "The first person I told that I had the amulet was Ellis, immediately after Evelyn came sprawling in flinging us against the wall. He pretended like he didn't know her, and I fell for it. I'm so stupid"
"You're not stupid okay" Noah said firmly
"Yes I am, and now we're both going to die because of my stupidity. I'm really starting to hate myself" I hug my knees which is drained in water. "Now I understand how you felt about me that night we were in the dungeon. Utter hatred" I emphasized.
"I didn't hate you, I just didn't like you." He lifted my chin. "I could see in your eyes that all that self-centeredness wasn't you, you just weren't shown another perspective. That's what I showed you, and look at you now"
"You're right, look at me now. Drenched in water, hair's flat, mascara draining, everybody at the castle probably hates me. I'm pretty sure my parents only love me because they are my parents if they had a choice they would throw me out, and I wouldn't blame them. I'm a horrible person" I frown.
"You are not a..."
"You don't have to lie..."I'm cut off from the sudden impact of Noah's lips on mine. He moves he lips slowly and I join in, kissing him passionately, moving our lips in sync until he breaks loose.
"You are not a horrible person, You're getting better. And we are not going to die in here, we are going to get out"
"How?" I whimper.
"I might know a thing or two" Tatti appears hovering over my shoulder.
"Tatti!" I grip her and hug her tight.
"I'm so sorry Tatti"
"Aww it's okay luv, I can see your heart has drastically changed, and I know who's responsible for that" she winked at Noah causing him to grin. "I think this belongs to you" she grabs my wand out of thin air and hands it to me" I grin with passion. "I've never left you, sweetie, I love you too much to do that" Tatti snapped her fingers and we were out of the pool of water, and in front of Evelyn's door. Traces of blood flow down the dark green door. If they think that makes this door frightening they have another thing coming.
"You got us inside?!" I whisper shout. I look around the grand hall, it's all very gothic. Her black stairs with green railings spiral to the top, paintings of her and her son surround the walls.
"We have to split up" Noah commanded.
"What? No I'm not leaving you" I declined.
"We have to, it's the fastest way"
"Have you forgotten that you're only human Noah? they are wizards, you have no powers, you might get hurt. I can't risk that"
"That risk isn't your to make" he squeezed my hand.
"I'll go with you" Tatti sprung over to his shoulder. "I can keep him protected. After all, I am indestructible" she giggled.
"Okay you guys take the ground floor, they probably have some underground laboratory or whatever you call it"
"An undercroft?" Tatti suggested
"No need to get technical Tatti, check that to" I grab Noah's hand." Be safe" I squeeze it and he smiled. I can't help but think back at our kiss, at how we didn't even speak about it after it happened. Does Noah like me? How can he like me? My last boyfriend didn't even like me, and we've been together for a quarter of a year. I bolt upstairs being careful to not make too much sound. This castle is big, but not as big as our castle. It's kind of obvious that only the two of them; Evelyn and Ellis, live here. It's not fit for more than 10 people in my opinion. I adventure to the top and see a big... hideous portrait of Evelyn. I walk inside the room next to it and notice it's a bedroom, with more pictures of Evelyn. They are all very ugly, but one picture strikes my interest. The picture on her nightstand. I walk harshly to the bed and pick and the frame, sitting on the bed to inspect the frame. It's a picture of Evelyn and my father.
"I and your parents were all best friends" I spring up to see Evelyn sitting on her window-seat twirling the amulet with her magic. "Inseparable from we were 12 years old." She stared out the window. "As we got older, hormones grew and feelings came. They got close to each other and counted me out of the equation. I saw them hanging out at our favorite spots, without me, rage and anger came. I introduced him to her, and they turn around and threw me out" She turned to look at me. "I felt used" she dragged while getting up from her seat. "They got married at 20 and guess who wasn't invited to the wedding" she rolled her eyes. "Had you at 22, by the time you were 10 they were coronated King and Queen" she stepped closer and closer. "Guess who wasn't invited to the coronation" she rolled her eyes again and stopped in place. Noah came walking in with his hands behind his back, Ellis behind him with Tatti stuck in a glass jar.
"Darling" Ellis smirked. "How pleasant it is to see you again" he walked away from Noah just in time for him to break loose and attack him.
I raise my wand to Evelyn to cast light magic against her. Her power is stronger than mines and I can feel her power taking over. I decide to do a front cartwheel and knock the amulet out of her hand. Taken by the sudden violence. I use this opportunity to retrieve the amulet. I can feel myself being lifted up by Evelyn's power so I struck a quick spell on her causing her to release me. I grab the amulet and put it on. When the amulet is on my body I can no longer be harmed.
"ut glaciem vertere!" I yell causing Ellis and Evelyn to turn to ice.
"We have to leave" I jog towards Tatti to break her out of the jar.
"How far can you get us?" I ask Tatti.
"Not very far, my powers are weak, he harmed me before he put me in that jar"
"I need for you to get us as far as you can towards the village" I plead"Glacies volutpat, glacies, equitumque glacies serpentibus perierunt" I cast another spell turning to the room to ice, an ice serpent surround the room, and an ice golem guarding the room."I need for you to keep them from escaping if they were to break loose" I tell the creatures.
"Yes Princess" they respond.
"Okay Now Tatti" Tatti snapped her finger and we are by the waterfall that we splashed in a day or two ago. "Way to go Tatti" I look at her to see her visibly drooping. "I'm tired" she collapsed on my shoulder and fell to sleep.
