Okay, quit judging me and my life. You don't know me until you've walked in my place or something like that. What's that metaphor again?
Sorry, I lost interest.
Alright. How do I describe Lily Evans?
Lily Evans is completely badass.
Joking.
Sort of.
Okay, let's start over. Hi. My name is Lily Evans. How are you?
I don't care.
Kidding, kidding. Geez, you're touchy.
What am I here for again?
Oh yes. To tell you my story. Because "there's more to me than meets the eye."
Bullshit. My life is an open book.
Whatever. Wherever in my life would you like me to start?
Yeah, sixth year sounds good.
Okay, so picture this: the Great Hall at Hogwarts. The typical first morning of the year. Owls swooping in and out, people eating and conversing, the works.
Shut up, I'm talking.
Right, so let's zoom in on that table, the Gryffindor one.
Yes, the red and yellow. Idiot.
Merlin, it was just a joke.
Okay. See that group of girls right there? In the middle? Yeah, that's us.
I mean my friend group, yeah. Whatever you want to call it. Anyway, see that girl with the bright blue hair and the soft brown eyes? That's Dorcas Meadowes. She's the rebellious one.
The girl next to her, that's Alice Prewett. She's my best friend. Yes, she's the one with the short brown hair and blue eyes. Round face, that's the one.
Across from Dorcas, that's Emma. Or Emmeline Vance. You know, the one with the blond hair, blue eyes? Hitler would've loved her.
She's a really nice person, don't tell her I said that.
And next to Alice, the one with the long blond hair and grey eyes? That's Marlene McKinnon.
Where am I, you ask?
Ah. Here I am.
Yes, the angry redhead, her green eyes narrowed into slits.
I'm getting there, alright? You'll find out why I'm mad.
Here we go.

I stomped over to my seat saved by Alice and sat down, flipping my hair over my shoulder and huffing impatiently. Marlene helpfully handed me some toast. Emma smiled tentatively. I glared at my plate.
"What's wrong?" Alice had the nerve to ask.
I seethed in silence. I was not in the mood to cause another scene like last year.
Alice nudged me with her elbow.
I sat up, wielded my fork, and slammed it into the table so hard that the points stuck in the wood, leaving the utensil sticking straight up.
"Aargghh!" I said, too frustrated to form words.
"Who did it?" Dorcas asked knowingly.
"Daahhh!" I yelled, throwing my hands up in the air. Most of the table went silent. The Lily Show was on.
"Lils, calm down so you can tell us," Emma said soothingly.
"I -- I can't fucking calm down!" I said angrily. A hush fell over the Great Hall. Any minute now, they were all thinking. She's gonna blow.
