"The earliest I can get you is Friday around one. Is that okay?" Percy asks me. I had just spilled so much about my life to him. And cried. Can't forget that part. But honestly, I am so surprised that he's still here. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he is, but still surprised.
"Yeah, that's fine. Maybe I can just avoid my mom all day tomorrow." I say hopeful and sad all at the same time. By the time we had started searching for plane tickets, most of the guys and girls had already left. They were invited to this rave that seemed to be the party of the year. I had asked Percy if he wanted to go, but he declined. I'm not complaining though.
"Once I'm let out of school, we can do something. I'm technically supposed to work for your mom tomorrow, but with you in town that means hangout." He tells me.
"Alright. Drive safe." I tell him as he walks out of my room. I hear him lock the door on his way out and I drift off to sleep.
I wake up hours later and immediately call Piper. I tell her everything from the night before and to say she was pissed would be an understatement.
"Oh, hell no! That woman is the fakest bitch on the planet. Who the fuck hides an entire family from the other and just leaves one for the other. AB, I want to punch her. I know she's your mom and I'm glad she breathed life into you but that was the only right thing she did." Piper rambles more than I did to Percy last night. Our demeanors are very different, however. "If I could kill her, I would. No questions asked. That woman has put you through hell and I just can't watch her hurt you again."
"Pipes, it's alright. I'm coming home a day early. I will never have to deal with her again." I try to reassure her.
"No, it isn't. You do not deserve this. You are literally the most selfless person on this earth. If she's too fucking blind to see what an amazing human being you are, then fuck her. When we're back home, we are having the best night of our lives. I promise." She says.
I laugh. "Pipes, I'll hold you to that."
"Alright, well I'm about to be forced to go out. I'll talk to you later. Yeah?"
"Of course. Bye." I say and she hangs up the phone. I think back to last night and my stomach knots up. I get out my sketch pad and head over to my desk. Whenever I'm stressed or extremely nervous, I draw up plans. The drawing helps clear my mind and helps me to focus on one thing at a time.
"I didn't know you could draw." A voice says and I jump, a bit startled. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you," Percy chuckles.
"You're good. I guess I was just in my zone." I hear how close he gets to me and I'm a little nervous. My heart beats a little faster than normal and I'm not breathing as easily as I should be.
"I had not idea that you could draw," Percy says and it sounds as if he's in awe.
"Yeah. I would like to be an architect some day but until then, this helps calm me." I turn to look him in the face and that's when I realize just how close we are. Our eyes meet and for a bit, we just stare at each other.
Never breaking eye contact, Percy asks, "So, what would you like to do today?"
"What do you want to do?"
"Well, I was thinking that we could go to the beach for a swim."
"Or you could do that and I can lie on a sheet and read."
"Or we could do that," He grins at me. "Let me go get changed." He walks out of my room and I grab my bathing suit. I put it on and a big t-shirt, as well. I grab us (or him) a few towels and I meet him in the living room. Despite the house being on the beach, I haven't actually been out here. I usually hate sand because it sticks to my feet easily and I don't like when things stick to my feet. We walk down and find us a spot. I lay everything out and put my last-minute decision chair down. I sit down and open my book as Percy takes off his shirt and runs to the ocean. God, even from the back you can make out his muscles. Wait, why am I thinking about Percy's back muscles? I try to read but I can't focus. I place my book in front of my face at an angle where it looks like I'm reading but I'm actually focusing on him. He's definitely attractive and him being by the ocean really brings out his green eyes.
"Annabeth! Come on!" He whines as he begs me to get in the water.
"Nope, not happening!" I pretend not to look up. Not that he would have known with my sunglasses but still. I look back to my book to try and be more discreet. Well, I shouldn't have done that because next thing I know is that I'm being lifted into the air. Percy takes the book out of my hands and tosses it onto the chair and carries me over his shoulder to the water.
"Percy!" I yell at him and laugh.
He lightly tosses me to a place where I won't get hurt when I hit the water. Not too deep, but not too shallow. I come up and act mad at him but I'm not sure he notices. He stares at my now soaking (and extremely see-through) white t-shirt as it clings to my body. However, I do get a good look at his muscles at a different angle than before. He swims over to me and gives me puppy dog eyes.
"Will you pwease forgive me?" He asks me.
I laugh at his silly question. "God, you look like a child."
"I look like a child?" He fakes offense, "You're the one in the t-shirt!"
"You just gave me puppy dog eyes! And you threw me in the water!" As we were arguing, we slowly got closer together. So close that we didn't even need to speak in a normal tone of voice.
"Okay," He whispers, "But would a child do this?" He then grabs me by the waist and kisses me. On the lips! After a second he pulls away, as if he was scared that he did something wrong. His eyes search my face and I raise my eyebrows at him. He goes to open his mouth to talk, but I snake my arms around his neck and pull him back down. His arms tighten around my waist and we just stand there kissing. Our lips move in sync as if this was not the first time we'd ever kissed. As if we had known each other for more than six days. It was almost like we had been doing this since the dawn of time. And it was perfect.
This kiss lasts longer and when we finally do break, Percy's entire face is red. "You are a really good kisser." He says as he scratches his neck.
I raise my eyebrows at him once more and give him a smirk, "You're not so bad yourself." His cheeks immediately flush red, again, and I laugh. "Well, now my shirt is completely soaked and I'd rather not walk around wet all day." His eyebrows raise in amusement and it's my turn to blush. "Not what I meant."
He laughs at me and holds out his hand. I grab it and we walk hand-in-hand to our place that we set up on the beach. He stops to look at me and gives me a small kiss. "Shall we go dry off?"
"We shall." I smile at him. Boy, was this going to be an interesting day.
