The team were on another mission and Peter was there too. Just as they were about to leave, something next to Peter exploded. There was no one else near him, so only he was affected.
As soon as Peter's comms lost connection, Tony immediately flew over to Peter's last known location, and spotted the teen lying unconscious on the floor. He picked up his kid gently, before flying back to the jet.
Tony had Bruce check on Peter. The doctor said he spotted no major injuries, but Peter did have a few cuts here and there.
About two hours after the team had reached the Compound, Peter finally woke up. He groaned and promptly closed his eyes at the bright light.
Tony, upon seeing this, instructed FRIDAY to dim the lights.
"Peter, are you okay?" Tony asked, concerned.
"您在讲什么？ (What are you saying?)" Peter tilted his head.
"Peter since when do you speak Chinese?"
"我不知道您在说什么。 (I don't know what you are saying.)" Peter frowned.
"Ugh who speaks Chinese?" Tony wondered. "NAT DO YOU SPEAK CHINESE?"
"YES WHAT DO YOU WANT?"
"PETER IS CURRENTLY SPEAKING CHINESE AND HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND A WORD I SAY!"
At that, Natasha came in. "What?"
Bruce was close behind. "Maybe that explosion caused Peter to only speak and understand Chinese."
"Will it stop?" Natasha asked.
"I'm not sure. Worst case scenario, we teach Peter English."
"你们在说什么？ (What are you guys talking about?" Peter repeated again.
Natasha sat next to Peter. "你还好吗？ (Are you okay?)"
Peter paused, before replying, "我的头有点痛。 （My head is a little bit painful.)"
"His head hurts." Natasha translated to the two confused men.
Before either man could respond, Peter tugged on Natasha's sleeve.
"妈妈。（Mama.)"
Natasha smiled slightly. "我不是你的妈妈。 (I'm not your mother.)"
Peter shook his head. "妈妈。 (Mama.)" He insisted.
Natasha pointed to Tony. "他是你的爸爸。他的妻子是你的妈妈。 （He is your dad. His wife is your mom.)"
Peter turned to Tony with wide eyes. "爸爸？ （Dad?)"
"对。 他是你的爸爸。 （Yes. He is your dad.)"
Just then, Pepper walked in. Natasha took that chance.
"她是你的妈妈。 （She is your mom.)"
"妈妈？ （Mama?)"
Natasha nodded.
"What happened to Peter?"
"He can only speak Chinese now. Nat is talking to him." Bruce explained.
Peter shook his head and let out a small whine. Tugging on Natasha sleeve even harder, he repeated that two words over and over again. "妈妈。 妈妈。 妈妈。 （Mama. Mama. Mama.)"
"What's he saying?" Tony asked.
"His calling me Mama. Even though I told him Pepper is his mom. He calls you Dad, though."
"妈妈？ 我很饿。 （Mama? I am hungry.)"
"He's hungry."
Tony leapt off the chair and ran out, screaming, "STEVE PREPARE FOOD FOR THE KID!"
Ten minutes later, the food came.
"谢谢。（Thank you.)"
Long story short, Peter had to learn English all over again and was very clingy to Nat.
All the Chinese used here was based to my own knowledge. The translation may not be accurate, my Chinese sucks, but hey, you got the gist right?
