Rapunzel's POV:

The memory played over and over again, like it was a movie that kept on rewinding. It kept on playing until I screamed myself awake. Where was I? I looked around and I saw that I was surrounded by trees. Hmm, I must be in the forest outside of the kingdom, but how did I get here? I don't remember at all.

"Ugh, great now my head hurts," I held my head in my hand.

"Maybe you should rest your head then," someone said. I grabbed a stick that sat next to me and held it up like it was a sword. "Woah there princess, calm down. I'm not here to hurt you." The figure of the voice walked closer and I saw that it was a boy.

He looked around eighteen or older. His skin was pale white, but it went with his pure white hair. Geez, for someone so young his hair definitely showed age. What popped out the most was his eyes. His eyes were crystal blue, it was so beautiful, almost hypnotic.

"Who are you?" I asked.

The boy smirked and put down the firewood he had collected. "My name is Jack Frost." Jack Frost? Oh my gosh! Jack Frost! I'm in the presence of Jack Frost! Oh god maybe I did die in the chapel along with Eugene. Oh. Eugene. The thought of him made me sad.

"Hey hey don't look down princess," he said trying to comfort me. I curled into my knees and cried. I can hear him walking over by my side. Each step he took it seemed to get colder. This feeling is so familiar. I felt his arm wrap around my shoulders.

I looked up from my knees and saw that he had seated himself next to me and hugged my shoulders. "I've lost someone too," he began to say. "It's hard to forget about them and the thought of them may hurt, but if you keep them close to your heart all the time, it's like they are with you." He gave me a comforting smile.

I felt tears glistening down my cheek still. I wish it was easier said than done. "You don't understand, my father, my love died because of me. Who knows how many more people have died trying to protect me!?"

"It's not your fault. Pitch would have killed anyone, even if they handed you over Pitch wouldn't have spared their lives," Jack told me. "He wants people to fear him, that's where he finds his strength."

"Why did you save me?" I asked him. Why did he? What's so special about me? He could have saved anyone, why me? Why was he even here in the first place!?

"The man in the moon seems to believe that you are guardian material and wants you to become a guardian, like me."

I looked up at the moon and asked, "Why me?" It didn't respond to me.

"Manny does that, he doesn't really talk. You just eventually find out everything in time." I turned around and I saw the boy looking up at the moon too. He seemed to notice me staring at him and he took his arm off of me. "Well, we are heading to the North pole. Unfortunately, we can't fly since there are nightmares flying around looking for you, so we are going to walk."

Jack got up and began walking towards the firewood when I noticed his side was bleeding. "Jack! Your side it's bleeding!"

He looked at it shocked. "Wow, I didn't even notice. My adrenaline must have been really pumping for me not to feel this." That was an understatement. I walked over to him and grabbed his arm.

"Sit down," I commanded him.

"What?" he laughed, but he sat down like I told him to. I grabbed a clump of my hair and placed it on his wound. "Hey! Hey! I don't want your hair near my cut!"

"Calm yourself, just watch," I said in annoyance.
