the four woke up early the next morning at the wreck, all spread around the restaurant they slept the night at.

hailee groaned as she moved around on the floor, JJ's backpack under her head and his hoodie laid over her to keep her warm.

"morning" he smiled from across the room as he looked outside, watching all the cops drive past.

"hey" she grumbled, rubbing her head as she stretched her body.

she stood and walked over to him, hugging him as he planted a kiss on her forehead, leaning her head against his chest as his arm sat on her waist.

JJ turned back to see pope, standing next to the couple.

"he's pinched for sure man" JJ sighed, looking at his friend.

"no, they wouldn't still be patrolling if they got him" pope said

"let's hope" JJ sighed.

"you know, we were in that car. they're probably looking for us too" kie said, everyone turning to look at her.

"she's right guys" hailee mumbled

"well if we're gonna be outlaws we may as well help john b" pope said, walking away.

"so find him before they do?" JJ asked

"pope, where are you going?" hailee asked, separating from JJ

"pope?" JJ asked

"i'm going to get gas for the boat" he said

"hey...you be careful, okay?" kie said, causing pope to glare at her for a few seconds, then ignoring her

"meet me at the dock at 3. dont be late" pope said turning to look at JJ, causing him to nod his head as pope walked outside.

"okay, why is your problem pops!" kie shouted as she stormed out after him

"okay what the hell was that all about?" hailee said, looking back up at JJ.

"i was about to ask you the same thing" he said, following her outside to see what was happening, seeing pope speed off after kie attempting to talk to him.

"everything okay kie?" hailee asked, only to be interrupted by a loud helicopter flying over, everyone looking up at it as it flew past.

"who the hell is that?" JJ asked

"oh no. that can't be good" hailee sighed, running a hand through her hair.

"you sure he wasn't just being weird pope?" JJ asked as the three friends packed food for john b.

"it wasn't really the kind of thing that needed interpretation...are you sure that's gonna be enough food?" kie said

"it'll last a couple weeks and that's all the need...so" JJ shrugged

"i think i actually hurt his feelings" kie sighed as the three carried out the food.

"look, don't beat yourself up too much, he's completely changed his feels! the past 24 hours have been like jekyll and hyde" JJ said
