Sae

"So, this plan of yours," I fidgeted nervously in my seat. "You never actually told me it involved my father!"

Sehun blinked at me, finding it so humorous. "We were literally in China 3 days ago, do you really think I had any business there apart from your wanted father?"

I frowned, shrugging my thoughts. "I thought you meant something about EXO, you dumbass! Or a solo promotion, I don't know!"

He clicked his tongue, tossing his phone in the air before successfully catching it. "I didn't even know why I worried about bringing you to China with me."

"Forgive my stupid."

"Forgiven," He then took a seat beside me, his hand taking mine and pressing them to his lips. "I know this is such a big step forward Sae, but you have to face him eventually."

I sighed, leaning into his warmth. "I know, but I never thought it would be in the midst of this mess."

"What better way to surprise him, right?" He chuckled, making me crack a smile. "How are you feeling?"

"I don't know," I mumbled. And true to my words, I really didn't know. I didn't know what to feel. Should I be angry at him that he had stolen that large sum of money from his business partner and practically abandoned his family? Or be sad that whatever he had hoped to achieve from his theft was completely different to his state now? I could easily be furious at him if he was wasting away in wads of cash and boasting arrogantly but no, he was miserable in a foreign country and was starving.

It shouldn't always be about me. At least, until I know his reasons.

"Tell me," I faced Sehun, shocking him. "What should I feel?"

He looked far off, as if he was actually ransacking his brain for the right answer to my question. Yet again, he managed to make me smile.

"You should feel...angry? Or happy? I honestly don't know," He nervously laughed. "Don't ask me questions like that, I'm not smart enough to quote something written in dramas."

"I don't expect you to anyway," I retaliated, amused. Nevertheless, just him being with me was more than enough to know how I should be feeling. Contentment. "Thank you."

His eyes scanned my face, my hands still clutched in his hands as he again trailed his lips on my skin. "Anything for you."

The moment was ruined when the overly annoying tune of our doorbell rang and we both froze in our seat. My heart had shifted in faster beats as Sehun stood up, looking back at me and offering a tight-lipped smile before reaching for the door.

I breathed in, calming myself. It's just your father. Whatever initial reaction I have when I see his face on the doorstep of our home would be what I had bottling in since I was a child. He is still my father, nevertheless and I wanted him to know that even without him, I had grown up to be this person he should be, at least proud of.

"Thank you for doing this, Mr. Lee," I heard Sehun say as the front door closed. My eyes are still attached to our carpeted floor as I hear the thud of their footsteps and his presence almost too hard to ignore.

"Of course," An answer was heard gruffly and before I knew it, I had thrown myself into his arms when he muttered my name," Saeyeon?"

"Thank God," He whispered in my ear as I tried to keep my tears in bay as I clutched his sickly form. "Thank you, oh thank the heavens."

"Dad," I sniffled. "You fucked up."

I felt him flinch as his hand had caresses my hair like I was fragile glass. "I know. I know. I don't expect you to forgive me easily but I will earn it."

I lift my head, staring at his face up close for the first time, seeing the tired lines in his skin. His eyes had dark bags under, looking at me tiredly. His wrinkles ran across his forehead as his cheeks turned hollow but his smile;

His smile, he mocked me when I had come to realize that familiar grin I got from him. Without hesitation, I flash him with my own smile and watched as tears slowly graced his old face.

"I'm sorry," He hoarsely mumbled. "I'm so sorry."

I could only nod and hugged his shaking body to mine. He should be sorry, he should be feeling defeated as he had left trails of his mistakes one by one and had completely thrown my life out of balance. But I was contented, he was here now.

What was the point of getting angry? or sad? He is here, and I cannot waste anymore time to delay what needs to be fixed.

"Dad, you know what you have to do, right?" I softly asked him. "What you did was-"

"Horrible. Selfish," He intercepted. "I have no excuse of my behavior. It was fright. I was scared. I know I wasn't ready and I did what I only knew, I ran. I'm sorry. I'm sorry."

"But, you have a chance to fix this," He pulls out of my embrace.

"Yes, and I am not afraid anymore. I will face the consequences," Dad stiffly nodded. "Are you not angry at me?"

I sighed," I thought I was but seeing you here, with me, there is no time for useless anger when we can face this straight on."

He smiled at me weakly, his hand grabbing mine. "You've grown up so well."

"Well," I humoured. "I did, didn't I?"

"And I can see you're happy," He continues then subtly nodded towards Sehun who was leaning on the wall idly, watching our exchange.

"I am happy," I looked at Sehun and he flashed me a dorky thumbs up, making me chuckle.

I am happy, truly.

"Thank you, Dad," I faced him and he looked shock at my gratitude. "It was brave of you to come here."

"It's time for me to put on my big boy pants," He joked. "It's about time."

"Even if you go to prison?" I teased.

His smile faltered but covered it with a laugh. "The law is the law."

"Right then," Sehun clapped, nabbing both our attention. "To SM?"

I grinned," To SM."
