‘I can’t believe you’ve given up on trying to find out who Phantom is,’ Haley complained as she lifted a beer bottle to her mouth. I scrunched up my nose when she used her teeth to open it, the noise went through me.

‘You’re going to break your teeth,’ I reprimanded and I took the bottle off her and drank a sip.

Haley waved me away. ‘Stop trying to change the subject. Don’t you want to know who he is?’

I was so tempted to say that I already knew who Phantom was, he was my boyfriend, but I couldn’t. I suppose I could pretend to keep trying to figure out who Phantom was but I’m such a shitty liar, Haley would see right through me and know there was something going on. ‘I’m just not that interested since I’ve got Justin.’ Luckily, before Haley could reply I saw a familiar figure in baggy jeans and a backwards snapback. ‘Slip,’ I called, pushing myself off the railing where we were waiting for the cars to come back.

‘Ey,’ Slip turned and opened his arms for Haley and me.

Slip’s real name was Edwardo Sanchez and he was like our little brother. He was constantly trying to hit on Haley and I, it was adorable. Slip was the local dealer and his nickname derived from how many times he had evaded getting nicked by the cops. He had been M.I.A since the bust a few weeks back and it was good to see him again.

‘How are you?’ I smiled, stepping back.

‘I’m doing good, damn mamacita, look at that ass.’ Slip nodded and I shoved him lightly.

‘Shut up, Slip. I’ve got a boyfriend now. You can’t be saying that.’ I teased and his eyebrows rose.

‘What? Haley, babe, please tell me your single.’ Slip turned to Haley who laughed gently.

‘I’m seeing someone,’ she replied and Slip huffed dramatically.

‘What am I going to do? The two finest bitches in this place are taken.’ He pouted and I shrugged.

‘We’ll have to set you up,’ Haley grinned and Slip looked offended.

‘Hey, I can get my own pussy.’ He adjusted his hat and I rolled my eyes.

‘Sure you can, little buddy.’ I teased.

‘You know, you two can pay for your shit tonight.’ He crossed his arms,

‘Awh, don’t be like that Slip.’ Haley batted her eyelashes at him and he sighed. Slip reached inside his pocket and pulled out a small packet of pills.

‘Just for you ladies,’ he smirked and chucked us a small bag with a few pills in.

‘Thanks Slip,’ I kissed his cheek and he pushed me away gently.

‘Man, you’re cramping my style.’ He wiped the red lipstick stain that I had left with the back of his hand and sauntered away.
