The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are ~ JP Morgan
—A few months after the wedding Jimin found himself in the reception area of his supervisor’s office. He shifted uncomfortably in the brown leather sofa he sat on which gave off a squeak of protest – it was way too fancy and too big not to mention terribly mismatched the color scheme of the office. He thought it was one of those that the higher ups no longer needed in their offices while remodeling and since they did not want to throw it away, he took it off their hands. He had always found his supervisor a tad flamboyant. But in this case, he found his taste for interior décor terrible. He should fire his secretary or interior designer – whoever advised him on taking the sofa.
He had been here a number of times in the past but today, he was here under different circumstances. The resignation letter he had drafted the night before now tucked away in his breast pocket felt hot against his skin and made his heart race wildly. If he could, he would have loved to keep his job for a couple more years. He had loved working here – he loved the people and the friends he has made here. To Jimin, the people here – at least the ones he was close – to were like family.
Even though he had held other jobs in other companies, this was his dream job. It had found him seamlessly and he was ecstatic when he got his job offer letter. He still remembered naively walking through the doors on his first day like it was yesterday – the excitement, the passion and all things in between. So, the decision to let it all go and start over did not come easy. He had tossed and turned in bed over the past couple of weeks losing sleep over it. But when he weighed his options he came to the realization that he could not trade his peace of mind for the job. He was way too young to let the world burden him with hate and prejudice.
What was the point of going on when he now dreaded going to work every single day? Why? What had changed? Surely, he passionately loved what he did. Well, he couldn't say that anymore. The work environment had become hostile and just plain toxic for him. For them.
He sighed as he thought about the genesis of everything.
Not long after the Jin and Joon’s wedding, one of the wedding guests has shared some photos on their social media with some wedding moments. Everyone in attendance would agree that it really was a beautiful wedding. Love summed it all up.
Among the photos was one that was an intimate adorable moment between Jimin and Jungkook. It beautifully captured Jungkook with one arm on Jimin's waist and the other on his shoulder smiling down at Jimin as Jimin tucked a stray strand of Jungkook's mane behind his ear. They both looked happy – hopelessly in love. It was all in the eyes really. The caption under it said ‘The most adorable couple I have ever met’ #LoveWins #ADifferentKindOfLove.
In this day and age, a lot of people who do not even know each other are bound to have mutual friends – the classic overlap of social circles. So it was not surprising when the said photo happened to find its way to one of the employees who worked closely with Jimin. Right after that the evidence of their relationship spread like wild fire through the company news channels – their names on the lips of all sundry. Now, there was no denying their relationship or keeping it under wraps. As expected, opinions about their relationship split people into two camps. There were those who fully supported them and totally shipped them and even went as far as coming up with a ship name for them. Hell, they even came close to creating a company fan page for them. Then, there were those – the morality police – who thought it wrong and made it their life’s mission to make them feel bad about it – make the feel less... human.
