Mrs. Kim sighed deeply and shook her head. She raised a brow towards her son, who copied the action. "Seokjin, not today. I'm serious! You really do have to try hard this year."

Seokjin chuckled, hiding his smile behind his hand as he nodded happily, taking a sip from his water before he got off his chair. "I will, I will! Are you driving me today?" Seokjin asked, taking one last bite of his food before he emptied the left-overs in containers.

His Eomma paused, looking down to her watch and gasping loudly. Seokjin only smiled to himself, knowing his Eomma had made herself late once again to make him breakfast.

His Eomma was a kind woman. He had taken nearly her whole face, while his brother had taken his father's. Anyway, his Eomma was a beautiful woman with long, dark brown hair that reached the small of her back.

She was just barley hitting her mid forties, but she didn't look a day over 30.

"I've gotta go, have a good day at-" Mrs. Kim's phone began ringing loudly, cutting her off abruptly. The woman snatched her keys off the counter with an overly exaggerated facial expression, sending a flying kiss to her son before she walked out the door, already talking on the phone.

Seokjin laughed quietly to himself, grabbing his bag and phone as he trailed after his Eomma's steps.

Seokjin shut the door behind him, locking it with the single key he had. After doing so, the young male put the key back in his backpack, then slung the heavy thing over his shoulder.

The sun was shining brightly, beating down on him as he walked on the sidewalk. Looking across the street, Seokjin saw his neighbor washing his car with a soapy sponge. The usual, he typically does that once per week if his car is dirty.

Seokjin felt heat rush to his face as his neighbor looked his way and waved. Seokjin mirrored the man, waving with a polite smile before he looked forward, trying to forget the awkward encounter already.

For him, it was awkward to have attention drawn to you. Or even for someone to catch you in the act of looking at them. He hated it and tried to avoid it.

The air was perfect. It wasn't too hot, wasn't too cold, not too humid- it was just perfect for Seokj-

"Where we going?"

"Yah!" Seokjin yelled, jumping back a foot onto the grass as his hand slapped over his heart, eyes wide. Seokjin rolled his eyes at his friend's normal routine of finding a way to scare him every year. "Is that nec-"

"I literally asked a question and you act like I tried to kidnap you. Keep walking." Yoongi huffed, lightly pushing Seokjin's arm to continue walking with him, his eyes on the sidewalk in front of him.

Seokjin hummed, catching up to Yoongi and clasping his hands together. A silence fell upon the two friends, though it wasn't an awkward one.

They were both very comfortable with each other. Neither liked talking all the time, as they found it draining. They got along fairly well, too, both being introverts and all. The occasional argument would arise, but other than that, there weren't really any fights.

Seokjin kicked a pebble out of his way, seeing their school start to come into view, as well as a bunch of vehicles and students walking. One more year, he thought with a small smile.

"It flew by fast." Seokjin commented, referring to school. It seemed like not too long ago, he and Yoongi were starting middle school together with eager smiles on their faces. He remembered complaining about school taking so long, how annoying assignments were, all that jazz.

Yet, now, he feels just how quickly those years flew by. It didn't stop people from telling him, 'Enjoy it. They're the best years of your life', though. Still, while he enjoyed them, he wouldn't consider them the best.

"Mm, it's not over yet." Yoongi replied with a slight smile, though his smile faded just as quick as it came when he saw his least favorite teacher scolding some poor kid not too far from them. "You'd think after having a child she'd learn some respect for us. She's a prick."

Seokjin slapped Yoongi's shoulder, shushing him loudly as they passed her, not catching the glare that was sent their way.

"Yoongi, you can't just talk badly about them when they-" Seokjin was cut off for the second time that morning by a hard bump to the shoulder, his phone falling from his hand to the grass. This caused Seokjin to bump into Yoongi, who only grumbled and lightly pushed Seokjin off of him.

The boy, who had bumped Seokjin, turned around while walking backwards quickly to yell, "Sorry! I'll make it up to you later!" After shouting that, the kid turned back around and sprinted into the large building, weaving himself around a bunch of other students.

Seokjin shook his head and bent over, grabbing his phone and putting it safely in his pocket. Seokjin grabbed Yoongi by the arm, his grip firm but not too tight, and walked faster up to the building.

"Let's get away from the prying eyes." Seokjin muttered, his eyes downcast as he dragged his friend with him. When all eyes are put on you, it's not the best feeling. While some people love attention, Seokjin did not.

A young female, one who Seokjin recognized from last year, stopped him by stepping in front of him with a smile. "Seokjin, hey! Do you have a minute?"

Seokjin opened his mouth, but no words came out. He let go of Yoongi's arm and nodded, coughing into his arm once. "Uh, I'll meet you in the cafeteria." Seokjin didn't have to say another word, for Yoongi was already walking away.

Seokjin felt himself die inside as he watched Yoongi's back fade further and further away, till he disappeared inside the brick building. After he had, Seokjin sighed silently through his nose and turned to the girl, whose name he didn't know.

"I don't know if you remember me from last year or not, but I'm Seohyun... I was in your English class last year! We didn't really talk, but yeah.. I just wanted to let you know we're in the same class again and I wanted to say hello." Seohyun rambled, tucking a strand of her brown hair behind her ear. Her cheeks were painted a deep shade of pink, something Seokjin would have told her was pretty if he hadn't been so shy.

"Yeah, of course, I remember. Thanks and uh, hi." Seokjin nodded, looking away awkwardly and taking a deep breath before he smiled, albeit slightly forced. "If you'll excuse me, I actually have to get inside, orientation starts soon."

Seohyun gasped and stepped out of his way, waving her hand frantically as she quickly began talking. "No, yeah, yeah, go, don't worry about it." She smiled politely and sincerely, waiting till the elder male was gone to pump her fist in the air. "I fucking talked to him.. oh my goodness.. it only took a year, but I did it!" She whisper shouted to herself, cupping a hand over her mouth after.
