When the floor around us shook, I was with Tao checking up on our recent endeavours. I looked out at what is was immediately, and found it to be highly suspicious when it was confirmed to be a terrorist attack, but the plant was uninhabited.
What terrorists have ever attacked a place without the intent to kill or to take hostage of something?
And then, seemingly seconds later, Valerie made a statement that she was right. The immigrants couldn't be trusted. What the hell was that supposed to mean? No one knows exactly who the offenders were, where they were from, or what their real intent was.
And the more I thought about the time everything happened, the more things came clear.
"Hey Tao, do you follow the election?"
"No. I have more important things to do.""You see, politicians are dirty people. They don't actually give a shit about their country or the citizens they live along side. All they care about is the win, the publicity, as would everyone. They would do anything and everything to get there."
He stood back from his work, "What are you implying?"
"I looked over the timing of events, numbers of votes, followers and supporters and helping contributors to the winners aid for a few days now. Who do you think set off that explosion, Tao?""Chiyo."
"They won't stop there. Not until their far in the lead." I narrowed my eyes, turning to look closer at him, "Next they'll go after real, living people."
"Are you worried about me?" He asked, raising a brow and giving me a look that said I didn't need to be.
"Not worried. I'm just giving you a warning, Tao. I might not be able to take a bullet for you this time."His eyes widened slightly, "I told you, to never do that again."
"I don't care. Like I said, I might not be there this time to help. I just need you to have an extra eye out."
"You are my extra eye."I clenched my fists, my body tensing at the thought of what could happen to him. And he knew what I was thinking, he knew I was more than worried, he knew I was prepared to risk my health to protect him.
"Chiyo." He said again, "Stop this."
