you woke up and got ready for your 2nd day working at county general. You walked in a Mark introduced you to Susan lewis. "hi i'm Susan!" she smiled as she held her hand out. "Elizabeth Rangel" you said as you shook the blondes hair. "me and Carol are having lunch later, would you like to go?" "sure of course!" you agreed and you followed them both to the front desk. "good morning everyone" you greeted with a smile. "i've never seen someone be so happy to come to work." jerry laughed. "well i'd like to think of myself as a generally happy person." you laughed.
"we got two kids with multiple lacerations to the head, neck and arms and legs. There father hit them with there car." the paramedics rushed in running the kids into trauma one. "who the hell would do this to there kids." benton said. "where's the other kid?" "right here!" the other paramedic rushed in. We worked on the 2nd kid for almost an hour. "You gotta stop Elizabeth" Mark said grabbing your hand which meant to stop compressions. "i'm sorry" you told him as you backed up from this little girl. "don't be your just trying to do your job." mark said sweetly. "Thanks mark, has anyone seen John today?" you sighed. "he's right here" he came behind you frightening you by his loud voice causing you to jump. "geez John!" you said as mark and Susan giggle like kids. "scary cat" he mocked you and laughed. "oh whatever" you laughed along with them. your morning went off in a blur as lunch time rolled around. you had finished up with a patient and Susan and Carol were waiting on you as you grabbed your coat and headed out the door with them. "how's did your mornings go?" Carol asked. "it was pretty good, the hospital is pretty slow today." Susan sighed. "yeah same here not much really." you told her. "what about you and Carter?" they both looked at you. "what about him?" you said clueless. "oh come on.. you guys definitely have a little thing for each other!" Susan said. "well i don't know maybe!" you shrugged your shoulders.

you all sat down and had lunch together talking and getting to know each other better. talked about your childhood and teenage years. first love? it was Drake. he was your only boyfriend you've ever had. he never let you have friends or anything the only people you got to see were your family. Drake would beat you if you broke his rules. and he would rape you.
of course you never mentioned it to them.
After lunch the hospital only had one trauma so they day was pretty slow which was unusual. your shift lasted until 6 Am. you sat at the front desk with Jerry and you started talking about Texas. "So what's it like there?" he asked. "how hot does it get there?" "up to 110 degrees" you laughed as his eyes opened wide. "i'm serious!" you told him. "well i don't think i'll ever be living in texas" he said. "hey Elizabeth." John said from behind you. "Geez John what the hell!" him and jerry laughed at you. you turned around to see his smirk and he had his hands in his coat pockets. "you seem nervous." he told you. "As if John carter, have you seen Mark?" you asked him with a bit of attitude. "he's in the lounge last time i checked." he smirked. "what's with the attitude?" jerry and john both asked as you walked away. You walked in the lounge to see Mark almost half asleep. "hey sleepy head" you greeted him and sat next to him on the couch. "hey Elizabeth" he said and lightly tapped your thigh. of course you didn't mind. "when's the last time you've had a good night of sleep Mark?" you asked him. "when i still had a wife." he laughed. "well i know how you feel" you silently said. "what do you mean by that?" he turned and questioned. "just got out of a abusive relationship." "how long did it go on for?" "5 years" you coldly stated. "is that why you moved to chicago?" "yeah it is." he put his arm around you and gently hugged you. "thanks mark" you rapped your arm around his small stomach. "can i just take a small nap?" you said leaning into him. "yeah sure i think i'll take one with you." he laughed.

the flash cause you to open your eyes. "hey sleepy heads!" Benton laughed. Mark sat up and took of his glasses and rubbed his eyes as you did the same. "how long have we been asleep for?" "about two hours." carol laughed. "any traumas?" Mark asked. "No but it started snowing." John said as he came in. you began to blushed as he walked in with messy hair as if he just woken up from a nap too. "what time is it?" you asked. "5AM." benton replied. "well i should be heading home then." you told them. you said your goodbyes and opened up the doors to see the white snow falling from the dark sky.
