Year: 2020

Winds howled at 25 mph as tables blew over. Gemini banged on the door violently as the rain soaked them all. Thunder rumbled overhead and flashes of lightning took over the sky in a obscene thrust of static electricity. The sky was a billowing darkness that seemed to swallow the school whole, as the fairy lights burst one by one around them. Sagittarius found herself leaning on Libra for support as one of her crutches almost escaped her grasp.

Cancer forced his way through tables and the screeching wind and up to Gemini. Cancer grabbed Gemini's arm to stop his bleeding fist from pounding on the door again. "They obviously won't let us in, let's get out of here."

Gemini shook his head and went to start pounding on the door again, but looked and saw Cancer's face which grew blue with cold. Gemini grunted and nodded tentatively, turning back around to see Capricorn and Taurus staring at a tree that had fallen and blocked the entrance.

"Capri, what do we do?" Taurus shouted over the wind's cries. "What next?"

"I know where we can go," Libra yelled to them. "I know a back way out of here."

"Then hurry up, let's get out of here before we die!" Sagittarius screeched in his ear.

Libra nodded as he lifted Sagittarius up and started walking towards the stage. Everyone else followed him carefully and closely, as the darkness started to engulf them. Thunder ricocheted off the clouds as lightning struck the table in which the zodiacs had sat at during the dance. Capricorn screamed and Cancer found himself muttering prayers to gods that had been long forgotten by the curse of time. Libra kept pushing forward, with Sagittarius clutching onto him tightly. She would have protested to being carried if her leg had any type of function.

As they entered the woods behind the high school, they could see mud and branches littering the ground.

"Watch where you step!" Libra shouted back to everyone. They nodded as they carefully glanced at the ground every time they walked. The six of them shuffled their way through a trail that Libra had known well as branches cracked and nearly fell on top of them. The group finally saw the end of the trail, and at it was Libra's house.

"Where are we?" asked Capricorn.

"This is my place. We won't be able to get inside, the key is broken and my mom's out of town," Libra shouted over the wind. "We can get inside the treehouse, it's well insulated."

Capricorn nodded as she and the others began climbing the ladder.

The six of them all settled into the treehouse together. The paint was peeling and dust had settled on the shelves that were filled with old trinkets. They were all puffing from trying to survive the whistling storm.

"Is everyone ok?" Capricorn asked, regaining some of her breath.

"I think so," Sagittarius replied, using a stool to elevate her leg.

Cancer could feel his arm bleeding but instead smiled and said, "Perfect as a peach."

Gemini blinked a few times. "Minor headache, but its all good."

Taurus aggressively patted herself down. "I could use some new clothes, but otherwise I'm fine."

Libra opened a drawer filled with dusty clothing. He threw some to Taurus who nodded in thanks before replying, "I'm all good."

Capricorn nodded. Everyone averted their eyes as Taurus peeled off her wet dress and shoved on the clothes Libra had thrown at her. She coughed violently.
