I can't believe it's already been a year

Aimes Pov.
Charlie and I were sitting on the couch in Hans shop. He was leaned up against the arm rest, I was lying in between his legs. 

"I can't believe it's already been a year since we started the Ducks" I sighed 

"Yeah.  A full year and you finally reached five feet" Charlie smirked.

"Oh bite me" I rolled my eyes sitting up as Charlie laughed.

Although he wasn't wrong. We were nearly fourteen and I had just reached 5' that spring, while all the others are climbing 5'8 at least. I went into the kitchen to make some popcorn.

"Hey sis, hurry up the game's starting!" Charlie yelled from the living room. 

Charlie and I had started to call each other brother and sister about a month after our first championship win. Now we were referred to as The Twins, on and off the ice. I stayed with Charlie and his mom while dad was off playing for minors. Casey and Dad hadn't kept in touch, and Casey got married last year, but that didn't stop Charlie and I from being siblings. 

I rushed into the living room with two separate bowls of popcorn, I sat beside Charlie handing him the bowl without yeast on it.

"Thank you for separating the bowls this time," Charlie smirked.

"One of these days you should really try it" I smiled. 

Charlie gave me a disgusted face while we turned our attention to the tv. My dad was playing a major game

"Here in the third period, where the Minnehaha Waves, lead by Gordon Bombay are in the lead 4 to 1. What a story this is! He went from a legal career to coach the Minneapolis Mighty Ducks to a state Championship last year" Charlie and I smiled at each other for that part "And this year at age 29 he's one shot away from the N.H.L"

I told you it was a big game.

"Here's the puck at center ice. It's intercepted by Gordon Bombay. Bombay across the blue line, he's in it all alone. Great chance for Bombay"

We watched the tv as my dad skated up the ice on a break away.

"Dekes once, twice, in front. He scores! Gordon Bombay unassisted puts his team up five to one! Boy he can still fly!"

Charlie and I shot up off the couch screaming and cheering, and spilling our popcorn everywhere.

"If he keeps this up, I'd expect to see him in the national hockey league real soon" the announcer finished as Charlie and I settled down and sat back down on the couch. I laid my head on Charlie's shoulder as we waited for the third period to start. Charlie and I were always very touchy feely, so we're Adam and I. Yes yes yes Adam and I are still dating. I think the physical affection thing started when my dad went to jail. It was a security thing, and I got anxious when I wasn't around Charlie or Adam. Not that either of them minded, they were happy to look after me. Charlie was really a big brother to me, and Adam was the best boyfriend I could wish for. 

Charlie and I were quick to turn our attention back to the tv as we heard the voice of the announcer again.

“Here’s Bombay in his own zone. Comes up the right wing side, steps away from one check there. Still has the puck at center ice. Gets pinned along the boards, fights to get free” Charlie and I watched my dad get slammed up against the boards.

He went down, and wasn’t getting up.

“Oh what a hit! Bombay goes down hard!” I was terrified.

We watched the tv as the ref called timeout and two paramedics came on the ice, and then they stopped filming.

I was scared and in rage. What had happened. I had no clue. How bad was it? Bad enough he couldn’t play. I instantly shot up from the couch and started pacing.

“Aimes” Charlie called. I wasn’t paying attention. I had my head in my hands and I was mumbling to myself “Aimes!” still wasn’t listening “Amethyst!” Charlie grabbed me by my shoulders and turned me to him.

“What happened! How bad is it? Can he walk? What are the doctors gonna do? Can he come home? Can he play hockey?” I started to ramble. I wasn’t even sure what I was saying. Charlie tried to calm me down but I wouldn’t stop talking. I knew in the back of my head I was blowing this out of proportion, but the front of my head wouldn’t stop worrying. 

Charlie’s Pov.
Aimes just wouldn’t stop. We noticed this is what happened when she had no one to hit. Usually when she was mad in hockey, she took it out on the puck, but with us. She just rambled till she stopped. I sat on the couch with my head in my hands. I was worrying about Coach, and about Aimes. He was her idol, not to mention the best father she’s ever had. Suddenly Adam burst through the doors of the shop, but Aimes hadn’t noticed.

“Charlie I went to-

“Look shut her up, then explain” I cut him off.

Adam nodded and walked up to her, cupping her cheeks in his hands.

“Hey. Hey you’re okay. Listen to me” Adam tried.

“Adam! Did you see it! What happened! I’m really scared for him! I don’t know if I can see him again”

Adam chuckled. I guess he found her rambling cute, I kinda did too, in a brotherly, cute like a baby puppy kinda way. She loved all of us, and it really showed. Adam then cut her off by smashing his lips into hers. I sighed at the sound of silence, but quickly started glaring at him, not that they noticed.

Aimes Pov.
Adam pulled away from me with a small smile.

“Sorry” I cringed, looking over at Charlie.

“It’s alright sis” Charlie nudged my shoulder.

“Guys I saw on the tv. I’m really sorry” Adam sighed.

I smiled at him. 

“Thanks Adam” He nodded “How’d you know we were here?” I asked with a smirk.

“Well I knew you two have been here a lot, since your mom got married. When you weren’t at your house I knew you were here” He smiled. Charlie and I were in shock.

“Our house?!” Charlie and I exclaimed in unison. Something we’d somehow picked up. 

Adam chuckled.

“I skated,” He smirked, and we nodded. 

Skating on rollerblades was basically how we got around everywhere now. I sighed, still nervous.

“He’ll be fine baby” Adam smiled, pulling me into a hug.

“Don’t worry,” Charlie added, joining the hug.

Yup. Best family in the world. Now I just need my dad in one piece.
