"Hey look, Lisa, I love you, please don't leave me."
"Shut it Brian, lying is not a good look for you."
Just like that, Lisa ended her relationship with Brian after she caught him cheating with another woman.

"Your bassist is a dick," that was the first thing Lisa said when she met Jae, her close friend and Brian's bandmate.
"Geez, chill woman,"
"Tell me how to chill when you found out your boyfriend was cheating right in front of your eyes! I mean, how could he look at her like that? That was the look he gave me too...,"
"I know."
Lisa was enraged, "You know he cheated? And you didn't tell me?"
"I mean, I know that he's a dick." Jae chuckled. "So you finally broke up with him?"
Lisa couldn't hide the confusion on her face, "you said it like you've been waiting for this."
"Yes."
She couldn't grasp what was the meaning behind his answer and tried to shift her attention somewhere else. Meanwhile, the man across her was looking very serious and he scooted closer to her.
"Look, Lisa, I love you."
Shock was an understatement. "Excuse me?" She was more surprised because she had to hear the same sentence twice, from two different men, in a span of two hours.
"You heard it Lis, I love you." he tried to grab Lisa's hand.
She pulled her hand away, clenched her fist under the table. "And you decide to say it now? Out of all this time, I've been in love with you, and you're aware of that but you chose Jennie over me. Now you're not with her anymore, you decide to tell me that?"
"I'm sorry..."
"What am I? A rebound?" she laughed bitterly.
"No, don't even think of that Lis, please." Jae looked down, feeling guilty as ever.
"Why now... after all this time I was pretending to be okay everytime you were with her... you're aware of my feelings yet you continue to rub it on my face about how you're very in love with her?" Jae knew Lisa was in love with him from the Jennie herself. She told him everything but Jae shrugged it all off, thinking he would never in love with Lisa and that idea was just a funny joke for him.
"I'll explain..." he said softly, afraid that the fragile thing in front of him might break at anytime.
"After I gave up on my feelings, buried them and tried to move on... why now? why so sudden?" tears rolled down her cheeks as her voice had gotten weak.
Jae looked up to her, proceeded to wipe her tears first before speaking his mind.
"I'm so sorry, I thought I will never fall in love with you, that idea was ridiculous to me. I thought what I feel was rather a normal feeling friends have."
"I didn't see it coming, like I said, I never expect to fall in love with you." Jae chuckled weakly. "Jennie and I didn't even last that long because we realize we didn't actually in love with each other."
"All I can think about is you, you got under my skin, you make me unsteady, you're the reason behind my sleepless nights and how I managed to sleep after our last midnight call. You're the one that I infuriatingly and inexplicably drawn to, Lis, I'm sorry I didn't realize it sooner."
Lisa examined his face and she found no hints of joke, he was very serious and was being honest. She knew that better than anyone else.
Jae's heartfelt confession just melted her tears resulting her to cry harder, she didn't even understand why she cry this hard when she's supposed to be happy because her love is not unrequited.
Jae stood up, moving closer toward her, "don't cry..."
"I'm sorry, I'm just... speechless," she said between her tears.
Jae smiled endearingly, "I know, it's okay, I will wait." then he hugged the crying mess in front of him, offering her a comforting hug. He patted her back, stroke her hair, and everything he could do to calm her down.
"Thank you Jae."
Jae pulled out from the long hug, "No need to rush, Lis, like I said, I will wait." he managed to say it calmly even though his heart was pounding.
Lisa finally smiled and nodded.
After a long comfortable silence, Lisa finally broke the ice, "can I ask you something?"
"Sure," Jae uttered ever so sweetly.
"Can I kiss you?"
Jae was found dumbfounded, didn't expect Lisa to ask that out of all things. Lisa in the other hand was fidgeting her fingers, kind of regretting what she said. Was I too straightforward? She asked to herself.
"Ah I'm--" she didn't even finish what she was going to say when Jae cut her off by brushing his lips to hers.
Not gonna lie, Jae had been waiting for this moment to happen, to finally found the perfect one for him. He's living his dream. The perfect one was right in front of his eyes all along.
And he knew that he was home when her lips touched his.
