Help Me Gray

Chapter Fifteen

Gray and I sit patiently in the lobby of the hotel for Lucy to arrive with all her things. After our fun we begrudgingly got some rest for the day of travel back to Magnolia. "I think that's all of it!" Lucy exclaims as she walks into the lobby with a bellhop quickly following suit with an overloaded cart of baggages and souvenirs.

"Did... Did you spend all your earnings?" I ask, stunned by how quickly she seems to spend money.

Her cheeks puff out as if insulted, "I have plenty of money left; I'll have you know. I got most of this on sale!"

"You know," Gray says as he picks up a glass figurine and examines it, "just because there is a sale doesn't mean you need to buy it..."

Lucy rips the figurine out of Gray's hands and places it back onto the mountain of stuff. "I know what I'm doing and don't need your opinion," she says in a matter of fact tone. Gray puts his hands up in surrender and apologizes. Lucy rolls her eyes and punches him lightly in the arm. "Come on, help me get all this to the train."

Gray's jaw drops and he stares at her in dumbfounded silence before yelling, "WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME CARRY YOUR JUNK?!" Without saying anything, Lucy throws several bags at Gray which he catches out of instinct.

"Thanks!" She giggles and blows a kiss his way before giving me a few bags as well. "See, Natsu didn't complain one bit!"

Gray grinds his teeth and glares daggers at her as she skips past him, carrying only a few small items. I laugh which catches his attention and his gaze turns towards me and softens. "Man, how do we get stuck with the heavy things!" He shakes his head and chuckles. "Come on. If we don't make it in time she's not going to be happy." I nod and follow Gray to the train station where we load the luggage and claim a spot in the dining car.

"I'll get lunch," I say after we've all taken a seat.

"Are you sure?" Lucy says as she reaches for a menu and begins flipping through it. "I brought you guys on this job, I can buy."

I shake my head, "You bought enough already..." I ignore Lucy playfully kicking me under the table and start flipping through the menu. I settle on some eggs. "I can't believe how much that job payed for how little we actually did."

"Well," Lucy says, taking a sip of water, "I was actually the one who did the most work since you two complained the entire time."

"Next time lets pick a job with a little more action!" I say, slamming my fist into my hand, causing a small amount of flames to erupt.

Gray nods in agreement and Lucy rolls her eyes. "You two are going to be the death of me," she sighs. "Oh, our food!" She exclaims as a waitress comes, balancing three trays.

"Oh, that looks good!" I say as the waitress lays Gray's plate of cinnamon toast sticks down.

Gray picks up a piece and offers it to me, "Try a bite!" I open my mouth and he feeds it to me. It's super sweet but the flavor is amazing! "Here, let me get that for you!" he says softly inching his face closer to mine until he's close enough to lick the syrup off the corner of my lips and making me blush. It's going to take some time to get used to us being this close.

"Uh... Gray? Natsu?" Oops. Totally forgot Lucy was here.

Gray and I give each other a nervous look, wondering how to explain. Gray thankfully decides to be the one to say anything. "Natsu and I are dating."

Lucy stares at us in stunned silence and then starts laughing. "That's a good one guys. You almost fooled me."

"No," Gray says. "We're being serious." Lucy's face still shows she doesn't believe us so he decides to take drastic measures. "Natsu?" he says. I turn to face him and he places a forefinger under my chin and tilts my head up and comes in for a kiss. Our lips lock but only for a moment as we both start laughing when Lucy gasps. "See? We weren't playing."

"I..." Lucy is so shocked she can't talk. She shakes her head and slaps her cheeks. "This is so cute!" She screams, leaning over the table and slamming her hands down which catches the attention of other passengers. "You have to tell me everything!"

Gray and I both nervously chuckle. "Well, maybe not everything..." I say.
