On the way home from, Grant received a call. He stopped his car on the other side of the road just to get it. It kind of irked me that he had to do that. People would just ignore the 'no cell phones while driving' warning, but he didn't. He must've been his teachers' golden boy on elementary school for obeying all the rules.

After hanging up, he made a sudden U-turn, going back to the way before.

"What's wrong? Is it Uncle Luke?" I asked. I couldn't think any other reasons why he would turn the car around if it wasn't for my uncle.

"I have something important to do," he said.

The last time he said that, he brought me to Macero Building to take some files. But now... unless Macero had uniformed employees, then it wouldn't be a problem.

"What are you doing in the police station?" I asked, slowly and steadily, while trying to convince my eyes and brain that it really was the police station on my right.

"Detective Banks called—he wanted to speak with me."

My eyebrows were suddenly raised. "Why...?"

"I don't know."

"Grant," I said. "You know the investigation is still ongoing and it hasn't found its light yet. Detective Banks would do anything to link it back to my uncle."

"I understand that. But it would draw more suspicion if I didn't come, right?" He then got out of the car and looked in before closing the door. "Stay here. I won't be long."

I watched his back as he made his way to the station. It sure would take a long time. If Detective Banks wanted to speak with you, it meant he wanted to interrogate you. But Grant was smart. Whatever it was that detective looking for, I was sure Grant would try to avoid any subjects that would drag my uncle in.

As the clock struck 4 pm, I came out of the car. He had spent 45 minutes there, and unless I wanted to die of dehydration, I should just stay inside.

I looked around and found a mini market nearby. After taking off the car key, I locked the car and walked to that mini market to buy a bottle of water, and maybe some snacks. Waiting for Grant made me hungry.

When I was about to pay at the cashier, a woman approached me.

"If you don't mind, can I go first? I'm in a hurry," she said.

"Oh, sure," I stepped back and smiled. I looked at my shopping basket for a second, before looking back at that woman with my eyes almost bugged out.

Oh, my God. I was astounded. Margot's sister.

She finished her payment and took her plastic bag from the cashier table. Before dashing away, she turned around. "Thank you so much. I'm really sorry about this," she said.

I was still in quite shock that I just smiled awkwardly while putting the stuffs I bought on the table. Come on, what were the odds of meeting the same woman whom you never knew twice?

"You're familiar," she said after scanning my face with her brown eyes. She had different eyes colors with Margot despite being sisters. "Have we ever met before?"

"I don't think so," I shrugged gawkily. Of course we have, at my uncle's office.

"Ah, Macero Building!" She tipped her fingers. Thank God, she didn't notice my oh-God-damn-it expression. "But weren't you too young to apply for a job there?"

The mini market door was opened as she finished that question. Grant came in and stared at me. He must had a little heart attack when knowing I wasn't there, neither was the car key.
