WYD - Wilson texted
Headed to school - Meredith texted back
Halle? - Wilson messaged back
We're both headed in - Meredith sent back
(Brown thumbs up sign) - Wilson sent
"Your boy is looking for you," Meredith laughed as she put her phone away.
"What?" Halle looked away from the road for just a second.
"Yeah, he's looking for you because you're not in school yet," Meredith told her with a huge smile on her face.
"Wow. He's not going to like me once he gets to know me. I am not his type Meredith."
"Not his type?! Why not? I wasn't his type."
"Oh, please! I see the two of you flirting with each other all the time," Halle told her with a smirk on her face.
"That's not true. We're good friends. Great friends," she added when Halle guffawed at the word "good."
"Cafeteria, yesterday," Halle reminded her.
"So what? He was talking about you at the time. I made a joke, he laughed, I laughed. That's not how I flirt. He isn't my type."
"You dated him. This past fall. He flirted with you from the football field," Halle pointed out.
"He's cute, he thought I was cute. It took us two dates to figure out that not only weren't we attracted to each other that way, we were more like brother and sister. We never even kissed on the lips. There was zero desire, Halle. I'm telling you, Wilson is a great guy with a sense of humor. He actually reminded me of a male version of you! I even told him that he'd get along with you perfectly. But let's be honest, you always have your nose stuck in the air," Meredith shared.
"I don't," Halle whined. "Okay, I do but it's for a good reason."
Meredith waited. Halle had nothing to say. "Lighten up, this time. Give him a chance," Meredith advised her.
Halle rolled her eyes as she parked the car and they walked quickly to the door. She'd have to give it a lot of thought. It wasn't that she wasn't interested in Wilson. It was that she didn't want to get hurt. Why would a guy like Wilson, who could date any girl in the school, want her, she thought to herself.
They were entering the building in the fourth period in which they had different classes. They waved goodbye to each other and went their separate ways.
